Why did Steve Harris fire Clive Burr ?

He initially was fired for not being "good enough", but the subsequent effusive praise from Steve, and the realities of the band's continued outlook at the time all point to a business decision. They did hire the wrong guy to replicate the old stuff on stage. That's not Blaze's fault. They...

Why did Steve Harris fire Clive Burr ?

Of all of the notable departures (Paul, Clive, Adrian, Bruce, and Blaze - Dennis and the rest don't rank highly enough for me to comment IMHO), it's Blaze that I feel the worst for. Love him or hate him, he gave it his all when he was there, he clearly loved the gig, and has been pure class...

    Steve Harris

How so? Maiden live is almost always Bruce does his swashbuckling thing Dave does his smiling/occasional fist pump thing Janick does the whirling prancing dervish thing Adrian does his slow swagger thing Steve does his foot on the monitor/occasional across the stage gallop/occasional full...

    Official Star Wars Thread

I'm not in the camp that "Rey should be a nobody" because; I think it it's a Chekhov's gun narrative violation on Johnson's part (along with the Knights of Ren, Snoke, and Anakin's lightsaber). When you're 8 movies into a 9 movie series about the Skywalkers and characters with special...

❤ Dating Advice For MaidenFans Thread ❤

My wife has checked this forum as she notices me perusing it often on my phone. She looked at it briefly and said "a bunch of Brits caterwauling in front of inflatable zombies generates this much discussion among people all over the world? Hey, whatever makes you happy, Babe". <_<

What kind of new release from Iron Maiden would you really, really want?

I had a dream the other night that the band had secretly recorded another set of songs for SiT back in '86, but just never got around to releasing them. They then announced that they would release that as a separate album AND release their new album at the same time later this year. The new...

    Iron Maiden's Last Ever Show

The keyboard parts in Maiden are sporadic, very simplistic, and meant for occasional atmosphere - I don't think they warrant a stage presence. The parts are so basic that I'm surprised that they have a real person play them, rather than just play it off of tape like 99.99% other rock bands...

    Devin Townsend

I guess I got what I asked for. I thought his recent DTP run was beginning to sound stale and 'samey' and I wanted him to do something riskier, but this is...almost too much for me (and I loved the craziness of Deconstruction, but this is something else entirely). I'll give it some time and...

Is Iron Maiden the biggest metal band in the world right now?

I've always considered Maiden a "very big cult band". They've never gone diamond like Metallica, AC/DC, or Van Halen, their platinum period in the 80s was still relatively modest for the era with no multi-platinum juggernauts or MTV hits like may of their contemporaries had, they get minimal to...

    Worldwide album sales

Part of the problem is that prior to 1991, sales reporting in the States was based on a loose survey system of record stores - not exactly the most precise method (and there were allegations of fudging the numbers by labels to look good, in addition to human error and store bias towards...

    Gojira

I hope it was a bad night. His live vocals have historically been one of the most powerful parts of their show. This past year I've noticed that his live voice is no longer at the "OMG that's better than the album!" level that it used to be.

    Martin Birch - the master

It's hard because it's such a subjective experience - I personally love the expansive & mysterious qualities of reverb/chorus on guitars, and 'overproduction' is never a concern of mine (hey, I'm a Devin Townsend fan). Others just view it as plastic sounding nonsense that connotes images of...

    Martin Birch - the master

The reverb gloss of SIT perfectly captures the sci fi vibe of the album. Love the production on that one. Though I can see why others might not jive with it.

    Diesel 11's Maiden Rankings

I'm always impressed when people do a complete ranking like this. I could probably do a top 10 and a bottom 10...but everything else in between is so fluid for me depending on my mood.

    Setlist retirement poll

On one hand, I'm tired of hearing the live version of any of these tracks over the last few decades...but it's different in person. Even though I've heard it a million times, I freely admit that I still scream like a 10 year old girl when the intro to NOTB starts.

Which song is a better addition to TNOTB album ?

I wish they could have just originally had a 9 song album and not even have this lingering debate. I'm always irritated when the band thinks of stuff like Gangland & Invaders as 'lesser' tracks.
