    Fan Club

Apparently I'm going to be featured as a "fan of the week" in the near future. I sent an email to the "Eddietor" (who manages the online magazine) with a quick Maiden-related anecdote. He (she?) wrote back a week or two later, and asked me some follow-up questions, which will be turned into a...

Is anyone else going to listen to "Stare at the Sun" during the eclipse on Monday?

    The Future Past Tour 2024

Unfortunately you're probably right. Around a decade ago, I did a work exchange in Buenos Aires. After, I spent five weeks travelling across Argentina. It's such a beautiful country. Before WWI, it was one of the wealthiest nations in the world. It's been bled dry by a century of corruption and...

Iron Maiden Tour 2025 - Discussion

I'd love to see "To Tame A Land", but it's very difficult on bass - perhaps the most challenging song Harris has ever played. I wonder if, at this stage in his career, he'd be willing to devote that much effort to such a difficult, obscure song. (I hope he proves me wrong though).

    Blaze Bayley

For what it's worth - I have eight of his ten studio albums. I think "Silicon Messiah" is the best by a wide margin. "Silicon Messiah" is vaguely a concept album about man versus machine. (Like some of his other concept albums, the story is unclear). "Stare at the Sun" is arguably the best song...

    Blaze Bayley

    Unfortunately, I completely agree.

    Blaze Bayley

I hope he tours in North America again soon. Unfortunately, given his recent health issues, I'm not sure if that's in the cards. (For what it's worth, the turnout at the Toronto, Canada shows in 2017 and 2018 were dismal - surely that doesn't help).

    The Future Past Tour 2024

I got my tickets for Toronto, Chicago, and Minneapolis (I'll likely sell one, and go to the other). Seat availability in Toronto was poor.

    The Future Past Tour 2024

I'll be going to the Toronto show. If anyone from out of town has any questions about Toronto (or Montreal), let me know. I'll likely do one other show in the US. Does anyone have a sense of what the odds of winning FTTB are in a bigger city (ie Chicago/Boston/Philly) compared to a smaller one...

    The Future Past tour 2023

I'm located in Toronto and am probably not going to see the shows in western Canada (at least, I haven't bought tickets yet). Here's my reasoning: Canada's a big country. Just under half of our population is located in the Quebec City to Windsor corridor. The closest of the three shows is in...

    The Future Past tour 2023

Have there been any rumours about when 2024 dates would be announced?

    Blaze Bayley

I'm curious as to why there are only 9 songs. I don't know the length of this album, but the studio version of these songs adds up to only around 43 minutes. His live performances are usually 80-90 minutes.

    Blaze Bayley

Something like this would be a good set list for Blaze Bayley if he opened for Maiden: Ghost in the Machine Escape Velocity Prayers of Light Silicon Messiah Kill and Destroy 18 Flights Calling You Home A Thousand Years Stare at the Sun Nine songs, clocking in at 41 minutes. Mostly greatest...

What is the coolest cover-/tribute version of a Maiden song you've ever heard?

This is a cover of "Sun and Steel", but it's reinterpreted as a pretty acoustic song with a female singer. There's a weird contrast between the harsh lyrics about death and how upbeat and pleasant this version sounds. This is a mash-up rather than a cover, but I think it still counts. It...

    The Future Past tour 2023

Definitely agreed. I'm certain it's Harris who pushed for "DOTC". He probably had so much fun playing "The Clansman" for the past five years, this would be the next closest thing. I've mentioned a few times that this is probably the most fun/interesting Maiden song from the 21st century to play...

    The Future Past tour 2023

Good catch. I listened again and you're right. Haha! In fairness to Harris, Dickinson interrupted him doing one of the few non-straightforward parts of that song (the descending riff during the pause in Smith's solo). I wonder if he would have been okay with it if Dickinson tried that literally...

    The Future Past tour 2023

My take on how difficult each of the songs is for Harris to play: "Caught Somewhere in Time" - fairly easy for the left (fretting) hand, brutally tough for the right (plucking) hand. This is one of the hardest galloping songs in the band's catalogue due to its length. "Stranger in a Strange...

What songs do Maiden change live?

I'm fairly sure Harris doesn't play any power chords on "Sign of the Cross" on the studio version. But he uses them extensively during the verses, choruses, and guitar solos live.

    The Future Past tour 2023

My final update from Slovenia in case these have been interesting or useful for anyone: Yesterday I visited Piran, on the Adriatic coast. It's a small town, and it felt like I was in nearby Italy. There wasn't much to do - it's more about relaxing by the water. Today, as planned, I hiked to...

    The Future Past tour 2023

I just got back from the show. An incredible night! I arrived at the venue around 19:15, and was in the fan pit fifteen minutes later. (I feel bad for the people in the general admission area. Someone in the fan pit could have arrived at 21:00 and still got a better spot than someone in GA who...
