    50th Anniversary Documentary Announcement

I think if Maiden was really keen on the US market, they probably would've done what Metallica did ages ago, i.e. forgo the backdrops and go for an in-the-round stage setup instead. It's a proven formula and it scales up nicely while letting more people be on the front row and get up close and...

    Maiden on the radio

I like how somehow it turned into a tradition that I'm now exclusively listening to Empire of the Clouds whenever it's on the radio on Good Friday. Kinda funny how the station basically just turns into Maiden power hour, they're by far the most represented band today, followed by Metallica at a...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES WORLD TOUR (2025/2026)

I always thought Bruce's whole attitude over it was kind of funny, considering Dio apparently used to smoke half a joint to relax his vocal cords before shows and Bruce is of course a bit of a fan of his.

    Bruce Dickinson

I'd liken it more to calling VXI Maiden's magnum opus, personally.

    The Future Past Tour 2024

Screw the rockstar touring the world, playing to crowds of thousands bullshit, this is the real dream you want to achieve. Work for a few months a year, make so much money you can just spend the remainder at the pub.

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES WORLD TOUR (2025/2026)

LotB was always intended to last for three years and they're obviously in no hurry to get back in the studio any time soon, if ever. If nothing cataclysmic happens and nobody calls it quits (and honestly, possibly even if another one of them does, depending on who it is) I could totally see them...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES WORLD TOUR (2025/2026)

For all the comments I've made, we're still talking about a band that joined Power Trip to play for a ridiculous sum for a very particular crowd, and made absolutely no changes to their setlist which was entirely built around the most dedicated hardcore fans and skipped out on nearly every...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES WORLD TOUR (2025/2026)

Opinions about quality of output are one thing, but objectively Metallica sells out far bigger venues even in Europe and the UK than Maiden does. That isn't up for debate. The gap isn't as wide as it is over in America, but it's still there.

TREASURE ISLAND - New Maiden Album (June 6)

It's not the intent and yet, somehow, every single year without fail somebody either falls for it or complains about it for some reason. Which incidentally suggests they did indeed fall for it and wanted to save face by pretending the reason they're complaining is because it wasn't funny.

    Should Maiden sell the catalog?

Don't miss out on Nick McBain or Steve cloning himself to play guitar in his own band. Hilarious to see the BBC publishing complete garbage back in the day though.

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES WORLD TOUR (2025/2026)

They should just played the album in its entirety, it's short enough that half the complainers would be stuck in line first at the beer tent and then for the toilets for the duration.

    50th Anniversary Documentary Announcement

Every band in metal make their profits on tour, from ticket sales and especially merchandise, i.e. t-shirts. Physical media isn't even a drop in the bucket compared to touring, and in that category it's albums (as in on vinyl) that will be the most profitable ventures, since everybody charges a...

    50th Anniversary Documentary Announcement

Hence why I said DVD. It's also an incredibly strange release since it's officially on YouTube and the iTunes version at least is in 480p unlike the YT upload. It's almost like they weren't going to release the video anywhere else but then changed their mind for some reason and put the janitor...

    50th Anniversary Documentary Announcement

I think it's pretty telling that the latest Maiden live DVD release is from 2013 and it's Maiden England rather than something new. It was an easy release since the edit is fine and audio-wise all they needed to do was what they did for Live After Death, i.e. a new multichannel mix plus the...

    50th Anniversary Documentary Announcement

I was thinking very much from a public interest type of perspective, since you can't rely on the hardcore fans alone to sell DVDs. The band was at its lowest point in the 90s and Raising Hell is what I'd describe a particular sore spot because of the context around it being Bruce leaving on bad...

    50th Anniversary Documentary Announcement

There wasn't exactly a fourth history re-release DVD to attach part four of the documentary to anyway. Don't think it's a huge mystery why it was never finished, they ran out of shit to put out. With physical media sales dwindling fast it's honestly a bit of a blessing we even got Maiden...

Maiden songs everybody seems to like but you dislike?

I really don't understand how anyone can stand Wasting Love. Incredibly annoying chorus melody, forgettable verses, and the whole product is even more cynical than From Here to Eternity in simply aping a popular rock staple with no original ideas. If it was made by any other band, nobody would...

    50th Anniversary Documentary Announcement

I demand archive releases of shit like the AMOLAD live album that never was and the missing two cover takes from the album sessions if they're gonna retire.

    18th Studio Album discussion

WotW is easily the best-produced song on Senjutsu and no surprise, they actually re-recorded the guitars rather than using the live off the floor takes. It's so annoying because that's what they should've done all along, preserve the live rhythm section but redo the stuff on top like guitars and...

    18th Studio Album discussion

I think what killed this for a lot of bands was simple physical distance. Convening together to rehearse and livestream or record material would've been easy enough even in the middle of corona if everyone lives relatively close by. Not so easy when the whole band's spread out over the globe...
