Thanks for your reaction. Actually what I meant to be saying was that I even find the lesser tracks on BOS sound more structured/inspired/energetic and less drawn out/monotonous than most of SJ. Surely it has some nice ideas and a couple of outstanding elements & parts (Steve's bass playing &...

    The Red And The Black

The messy, flamengo-ish bass intro I'm not that fond of tbh, as well most of Bruce's verse singing during most of the first half of the song, but after that, whooah, it is one of the best parts of the album. The chorus is really good, catchy and kind of sad at the same time. During a long walk...

Unfortunately still struggling with the album. Must admit that it has grown on me, but a little less than I had hoped for. Can agree that BOS has more highs and lows than SJ, but maybe those highs make the lows seem lower than they actually are...While revisiting BOS the last few days, it...

Thanks. He had a laryngectomy and a stoma in the neck as a consequence (has lived on with that for 18 years, dying of bowel cancer in the end)

Iron Maiden News, Links, and Interviews

Kind of a shock to hear this. Thinking back to Bruce's awful ordeal of course but also to my father who has had exactly this same type of cancer. Good to learn that also in this field of expertise technology is way more advanced than 20 years ago and that Nicko's prognosis is promising.

Your favorite 10 seconds of Maiden?

GOOD Thread, very interesting!:applause: The part before the calm middle section of SSOASS, especially the ME '88 live version, still goosebumpy after all those years: From the reunion era, this part from Dance of Death (DOTR live), because of Bruce's sheer theatrical expressiveness:

How old were you when you started listening to Maiden and which 3 albums did you buy first?

Must have been either at the end of '87 or the beginning of '88, I was 14 years old, and a class mate gave me a copy cassette of SIT. Don't remember if HCW was the first song or whether I didn't rewind first but that's the one that's stuck in my memory, especially the Whohoho part :) A LAD copy...

Thoughts on Steve Harris British Lion?

Was pleasantly surprised with the first album and the second one pleased me even more. Of course large part due to Steve's presence all around, as his bass playing has been by far the main attraction for me in Maiden. The guitarists are OK and the singer doesn't sound unpleasant to my ears at...

My Deluxe 2CD (Book version) arrived 3/9 'sharp' and in the meantime I have listened to it a number of times.First time in full, all subsequent spins skipping WOTW (liked it,something a bit different,H!)&Stratego (very good, classic, catchy chorus&verse). To be honest I'm in a bit of light...

    Repetitive Choruses count

Excuse me for being very slightly off topic but the same ones that struggle with repetitions might argue that the middle sections of Rime and 7th are repetitive/monotonous also (two top-10ers all day long..oof it getting crowded there;)). Must admit that when I was younger I thought that there...

    Repetitive Choruses count

Good to read your view on the song. Can understand why it holds back a little for you. It's not in the Sign of the Cross league or the Clansman's first half(after "Freedom..." it is a bit let down by a similar underdevelopment imo) but all in all still best track of the album for me.One's gotta...

Good to know that some of us do also still like TAATG...welcome to one the smallest Maiden sub-clubs.I actually like DLTTEOAS even more, great intro (same flavour as TCDR's intro),lovely bass..in my top 20 every day of the week!

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

Sounds familiar, for the last few albums there have been more songs than before that needed more spins to get my full appreciation.Maybe that characterizes newer Maiden and isn't a bad thing in itself (the age old dilemma, instant hit or grow and longevity)

    22, Acacia Avenue

What a great track, definitely in my top 20, if not top 10. After all those years I've not been getting bored with it by any means. Especially the live version from the Dortmund show where the whole band was on fire (so was Eddie;)).Dave Murray's little solo during the mid section is...

    Your Maiden blasphemy

From Virtual XI I really like DLTTEOAS,I would even go as far as saying it's my favourite track on the album. Also the repitiveness in TAATG doesn't bother me in the slightest. In those days (and the early 2000's) I was probably at the height of my fandom so as often the case with music,memories...

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

Hi everyone.Have been visiting this forum for years now but due to a bit of shyness and a lack of technical knowledge about forums and computers in general it has taken this long to make an introduction. I'm 48 years old, from The Hague,Holland and have been a fan of the band since 1988 (first...
