    Favourite Black Sabbath/Ozzy Covers

I don't know if it counts, but I really love Ozzy's Speak of the Devil album. Canned studio vocals and a couple of weird edits aside the music kicks ass, and all the musicians are in the top of their game. Extremely energetic and eighties sounding Sabbath covers that just goes to show how much...

Bayley-era Maiden vs. Martin-era Black Sabbath vs. Ripper-era Judas Priest?

Good points, and mea culpa. I guess what matters most is what the end product sounds, and all these bands have had problems with productions and mies, which poses the question whether they've had the right people behind the desk or not. I think in all instances the band leaders, management, and...

Bayley-era Maiden vs. Martin-era Black Sabbath vs. Ripper-era Judas Priest?

Fair enough, Rob definitely was/is responsible for the lyrics and vocal melodisen, not sure how much he composed and arranged though. Be that as may, Priest did write their best material with Halford/Tipton/Downing. However, like Yax said above, I do believe that Tipton/Downing took The wrong...

    Ozzy Osbourne (1948-2025)

RIP Ozzy. This hit hard. We all knew he was living on borrowed time, but man that was almost instant after the farewell show. What a bittersweet triumph. Black Sabbath and Paranoid album was my first foray into hardrock/metal almost 25 years ago, I still vividly remember hearing Ozzy's vocals...

Bayley-era Maiden vs. Martin-era Black Sabbath vs. Ripper-era Judas Priest?

Martin Sabbath, by a far margin. Tony Martin was an amazing studio singer and a solid live singer who could channel any Sabbath singer (and did the Ozzy stuff better than RJD). The Eternal Idol, Headless Cross, and Tyr are all great albums. Martin's vocals are top notch and he's somewhat...

    Favourite Iron Maiden Epic (1980-1992)

Alexander for me. A perfect marriage of music and (admittedly a bit daft) lyrics. I also find it structurally and musically more interesting than its Peters, it's an adventurous arrangement with H and Nicko at the top of their game. Witnessing it live cemented my love for this epic. Phantom and...

The best run of 3 Maiden albums from the 80's?

Voted for PoM-SiT, since SiT is my personal favourite, and I prefer PoM to 7th Son. However, 666-PS is arguably the peak of classic Iron Maiden, that's the sound of galloping guitar driven heavy metal that we and the mainstream crowd mainly associate to IM when we think of the band.

Are there any video bootlegs from 1984/85 / World Slavery Tour existing?

I believe he filmed other gigs as well, I forgot to mention Van Halen '84. So mainly rock acts at Le Forum, I guess. Could it be he missed the World Slavery Tour or couldn't film it for one reason or another. I really don't know whether this film exists or not, hence the speculation.

Are there any video bootlegs from 1984/85 / World Slavery Tour existing?

Speculation ahead... With regards to Montreal 1983, I've always wondered whether the same person* also filmed Montreal 1984 (or any subsequent Forum gigs, for that matter). To my knowledge nothing has surfaced thus far, so I wouldn't hold my breath. *Not completely sure, but apparently the guy...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

The Helsinki show was all in all a fun event. Maiden's Stadium shows gather a lot of casual fans, so I got to meet a bunch of old schoolmates I haven't seen on twenty years. Also got to meet Mr. Mind Ruler himself. A great pleasure, as we were IMBB-regulars back in the Early 2000s. And as fate...

    Bruce Dickinson

Sure it wasn't Koskenkorva? I had a red hoodie, so alas, wasn't me. What do you reckon, is Rain on The Graves a better live song than Blaze's Ten seconds? That's a tough one.

    Bruce Dickinson

I don't want to go into too much detail, especially in a political sense, but it's all in the context. For me concerts are an escape. Therefore I don't think Bruce's concert was the right time or place for such a topical remark, especially in contrast with the music and the concert as a...

    Bruce Dickinson

Agreed, a fantastic show. Bruce was constantly blowing his nose, quite visibly on the background, but vocally he was on fire. I have never witnessed such an enthusiastic crowd in Finland, and I got a laugh from the olé-chants: it is beyond silly to have a Finnish audience chanting olé, but I...
