OK, a tough one, but here's my no-Blaze era bottom five in no particular order: Iron Maiden The Assassin The Apparition The Fugitive Tears of a Clown I'm really surprised at the hate for Darkest Hour. I get it if you don't like Churchill, that's fine, but I think it's a fucking great song.

The band said this was as close to a "greatest hits" show that they're ever going to play, a celebration of their first ten years. It's not for Maiden fans, ironically, it's for the casual metal fan that knows a handful of songs. You really should have known that going in :) I have to...

Couldn't agree more. I don't want the "modern" metal sound where everything has zero dynamics and the recording is pro-tooled to within an inch of its life (i.e. anything in the Sneap style), I just want something clear with some nice effects and crunchier guitars.

Of course this is true for many bands, but Nicko had such an array of toms and cymbals, that without those options there the dynamics will be different. Being able to roll across those tiny toms or do a bottom end roll going to the floor tom just hits different, because the drums are a different...

To totally disagree. Trooper was always Maiden's most loved track, well before the beer.

The question is, is it coincidence that Maiden's most casually loved track (The Trooper) doesn't have a chorus? Hmm.

I don't mind the latter. I think Eyes/Stranger and Educated Fool are two underrated songs.
