Iron Maiden - The equipment of the guitarists since 1980

Thanks for the additional info. As I said, I mainly focused on amps and effects, having listed only the main guitars. I shall later add those to the document.

Iron Maiden - The equipment of the guitarists since 1980

I've consulted this thread a little bit: https://forum.maidenfans.com/threads/adrian-janick-and-daves-guitars-and-steves-basses.32653/ My main focus was on amps and effects since the majority of information over the internet is about the guitars.

Iron Maiden - The equipment of the guitarists since 1980

Ok, guys, I have put a lot of work on this. I'm a brazilian guitarist and have always been an enthusiast of guitars, amps and effects and the relationship between them to create the most unique sounds. When I was younger I used to play a lot along with Maiden songs and always tried to...

Adrian, Janick and Dave's guitars and Steve's basses

Good to know that. So apparently he uses it less than expected. It may be more of a personal taste thing rather than usability.

    2015 Remasters on CD

One of the reasons cymbals generally sound better in the car is because they're mainly composed of high frequencies and tweeters are usually placed in the car at or close to ear level. Tweeters reproduce mainly high frequencies. High frequencies, unlike low frequencies, are more directional...

Adrian, Janick and Dave's guitars and Steve's basses

Yeah, could be that as well hehe. The Mesa Boogies are/were probably used in specific situations. I've even read some sources saying Adrian and Dave used Mesa Boogies during TNOTB era.

Adrian, Janick and Dave's guitars and Steve's basses

I think they are probably used mostly by Janick in studio, as Janick is known to having included Mesa Boogie studio preamps in his gear. Recording and mixing three guitarists is not an easy task. Music producers generally recommend recording guitar parts with different guitars and amps to avoid...

    Blaze touring issues?

Agree. Blaze is a good singer and did a fine job with Maiden within his own limitations, but unfortunately his voice does not match Maiden's style. Personally I think Maiden would have been better off if they'd found a vocalist with a vocal range similar to Bruce's. It's kind of unfair to get...

    2015 Remasters on CD

A 320 kbps MP3 and a lossless format do have differences, but you may only be able to notice on hi fi systems such as studio monitor speakers for music production. These kind of monitors are designed to deliver the flattest frequency response possible by not adding "color" to the sound...

    2015 Remasters on CD

It depends on the quality of the original recording. Let's say you have produced a track that was originally outputted as an uncompressed WAV file. If you compress it to 192 and 320 kbps MP3 files there will definitely be a difference between the MP3s. One mistake people do is to convert a...

    Comparing SIT to SSOASS

Both are amazing albums, but if I had to pick one I'd go with SSOASS. This album was amazingly well thought. Being a concept album, the lyrics were all well planned out and some songs match the mood of the instrumentals with the context of the lyrics, such as the title song and The Prophecy...

    2015 Remasters on CD

It all depends on how perfectionist one is. There is some consensus that vynil delivers the purest of sounds, due to it being a physical media and able to contain more information, thus having no quality loss due to digital sampling. But of course you need to have decent turntable and needles...

Adrian, Janick and Dave's guitars and Steve's basses

I've found some sources stating the use of Mesa Boogie amps along with Marshall amps going back as far as Powerslave era. But it is known that Janick is a long time user of Mesa Boogie amps, so they could definitely have been used on NPFTD and FOTD.
