    USA Politics

All things the mainstream leftist media told you he was by twisting whatever it is he says and does to fit their narrative - and you gobble it up as if it were gospel. Can’t disagree on the ego part, though.

    USA Politics

The amount of leftist extremism in this topic is legitimately insane. The mainstream media really has done a number on some folks in here. Just because Reiner was unhealthily obsessed with Trump (hence the TDS diagnosis) does not mean conservatives think he was a bad person. He was on people’s...

At least he ended with “may [they] rest in peace.” Do not lump all of us conservatives and “Trumpers” into the same bowl. Yes, Reiner suffered from chronic TDS, but this was not the time for Trump to mention it. Some of his rants are funny; this is not one of them. Obviously I set...

I need to do a deep dive on Pain of Salvation. I need more prog in my life.

    Symphony X

While the self-titled album is dragged down heavily by Rod Tyler’s crooning, I still think several of those songs would sound absolutely killer with Russell. Absinthe and Rue, Premonition, Thorns of Sorrow, and A Lesson Before Dying (truly an underrated piece) come to mind. Related: I have to...

Abyss is my only vote this time around. The Wind That Shapes the Land is my favorite UtA song, and this is their strongest album in my book. Nightwish hasn’t done anything I’ve cared for since the first album with Floor, and while that was a solid effort, I still prefer the Anette and Tarja era...

Opeth is always worth it in my experience. Seen them at least 10 times over the years, and I’ve never been disappointed.

    The Concert Thread

I went to the same shows @MrKnickerbocker went to, minus Oasis (not my thing, although I’m sure the fights were breathtaking). Quite excited for John Bush singing Anthrax, since I love his voice and never cared for the band’s original singer. The one-two punch of Symphony X and Bruce was the...

I forgot to vote for Wilderun. Tyranny of Imagination is pure Opeth and very well may be their best song.

Poor Haken. Vector isn’t their strongest effort by any means, but it deserves more love. Hopefully Virus and Fauna will do better.

    Now Playing (Video Games)

Played the BM Blue Shift mod recently and yes, it’s great! The original was so short, and most of that was rectified considering the first few chapters were like 5-6 hours total. Hoping we’ll get a new Wolfenstein game soon. Youngblood was decent but not as strong as the other two.

    Now Playing (Video Games)

I just thought it was funny that you mentioned Dark Ages like it was the good old days. I loved Wolfenstein New Order, but New Colossus a bit less. Doom, too (all of them). Something about those ‘90s shooters and their more recent sequels just hits me hard (although Duke 3D’s sequel will not be...

Which came out, what, 5 months ago? I have fond memories of Battlefield 2 (I think?) back in the day. Huge maps that actually have bullet drop for sniping (my fav) was always preferable to COD to me. Sadly I rarely have time to play MP games anymore, and the average player is so good that I’d...

I love UtA, but they just can’t compare to the greatness that is The Source. Oddly, I’m not a huge fan of Ayreon’s other material. There’s some good tracks here and there, but nothing I’ve heard is as consistent as this album.

Pretty solid set, too. Very much liking this new album; it may be the best since Carolus Rex in my book.

I know their fans crap on it because it’s “poppy,” but Show Yourself is a super catchy tune.

The Source is one of my favorite prog rock/metal albums of all time. Combining the elite songwriting of Arjen Lucassen with so many unique and talented voices, from Russell Allen's badassery to Tommy Karevik's soulful crooning to Floor Jansen's wailing to Tobias Sammet and Hansi Kursch's...

Trump will never die. His life essence will be transferred into a giant robotic suit and he will become MechaTrump and rule forever. Kinda like Krang from Ninja Turtles.

Hardwired is a third bangers, a third decent, and a third utter filler. That stretch of songs starting with Man Unkind up until the last track is brutally horrible (I suppose Murder One is at least passable). Spit out the Bone, however, is one of the best post-Justice tracks for sure. This is...
