Iron Maiden Sells Half of Their Catalog, Name And Likeness Rights to Pophouse Entertainment

Oh yeah, they signed on to sell half their control away right before the previously announced sabbatical year. Yeah, it would likely take some convincing to get the Pophouse people on board with their only currently active acquisition deciding to simply not tour after coming off a two-year...

Iron Maiden Sells Half of Their Catalog, Name And Likeness Rights to Pophouse Entertainment

My first reaction is eh, my second reaction is eww, and my third reaction is I should've kept my mouth shut about Bruce getting his way and the band committing to recording a new album next year. Well, I did make a similar unfounded post before the tour about a certain setlist change which came...

    RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2026

72? 82 at least so it takes up two CDs. Steve's pride as a songwriter is dependent on Maiden only producing double albums from now on.

    RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2026

OTGDY will probably make it next tour, simply because Steve's now mentioned it on multiple different occasions and I think whatever reason Bruce had for saying no to it on TFP will probably be dumpstered now that they're likely going to record sometime in the near future. Bruce gets his way and...

    RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2026

LOTB '18 definitely had a lot of songs with a slower pace than we were used to at the time. I believe this was intentional to keep the tempos from racing too much for Bruce to sing and also for Nicko's own sake on songs like The Wicker Man. 2MTM I think felt downright sluggish at some shows even...

    News 18th Studio Album discussion

It's funny because there's like, what, three songs with fade outs in their catalog? And then we get Hell on Earth after I don't even remember how long since the latest example until then. SIASL or something? I think most people assumed Steve hated fade outs too since the band basically never...

    News 18th Studio Album discussion

Songs that are b-side material are one thing (The Man of Sorrows sounds like a demo they slapped on the album) but what's even worse for me is when we get an album like Senjutsu where I'd argue nearly every song needed to be edited, in some cases heavily. Too much repetition and sections that go...

    RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2026

I thought he definitely was glaring at Simon a bit when he was wandering around the stage during the solo. Left his mic stand there as is pretty typical, but definitely seemed to look his way longer than usual.

    RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2026

I do think what would've followed had Maiden followed the trends a little and downtuned to Eb for example in the 90s. Would they have gone straight back to E once Bruce was back in the band, or stuck with the lower tuning because he would've likely been okay with it at that time, coming hot from...

    News 18th Studio Album discussion

I think the problem with Nicko is that accommodating for him will inevitably mean they have to alter their approach in the studio. I don't think Steve wants to do that at all, he'd just prefer to show up, bang the songs together and record them mostly live, maybe in sections for the more tricky...

    RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2026

All this talk about wanting to document the tour properly with a live video with no sea of phones in the audience and the actually relevant part, i.e. the audio is just whatever who gives a shit get Steve's mate he's cheap. This band baffles me sometimes.

    RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2026

I think we kinda ended up averaging around Aces Okay last year too, after some serious Aces Lows due to Bruce getting sick mid-tour and having to basically sing the entire song with alternate melodies and a lower register. Still think Adrian should sing backing vocals on the second part of the...

    Dreams about Maiden?

I got one, from back in 2018 before the LOTB shows started. I was at the gig and to my eternal surprise they opened with Caught Somewhere in Time with a weird, elaborate stage that didn't really fit the theme. I woke up thinking yeah right, as if that'll ever happen. Turns out I was five years...

The biggest disaster show Maiden ever did?

I dunno if there's an '82 but we do have this hilarious one from '84 (apparently they were drinking before the show because it was somebody's birthday, support act's bassist or something): I recall there was an eerily similar fuck up in Hallowed last year which is when I first found out about...

Senjutsu as the opening song kinda proved to me they made the right call opening with Man on the Edge rather than Sign of the Cross back in '95/'96.

    RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2026

It's bizarre to think 15 years ago Maiden actually made the sensible choice of moving The Talisman up the set, because it's a bitch of song to sing and Bruce was struggling with it. They also didn't perform RTTH as the last encore because it was too demanding as the last song of the night...

The biggest disaster show Maiden ever did?

This one's a classic since he did the same exact thing on the opening night of Somewhere on Tour.

    RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2026

I wish he'd tighten it down a bit, it has so much wash it tends to get lost in the mix rather than cutting through in uptempo songs like AH. That and the toms being tuned low are probably the two things I've picked up that really make the sound muddier overall than it should be.
