RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

I get the feeling the only thing he's going to be upset about is Nicko poking fun at his overlong arrangement and the band shortening it significantly!

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

It was literally stated by Nicko once. Fair enough, you could argue he wasn't that serious about it, but all the same he didn't play Alexander with his band until after Maiden did it.

What's the worst Maiden song where the songwriting credit only has (Harris)?

Don't Look to the Eyes of a Stranger because it keeps getting brought up in this thread and every mention of it makes me hate it slightly more. It's repetitive to the point of comedy and the Elmo drums double-pace section it builds up to underlines it with how limp and pathetic it is both...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

So, turns out Steve's rule about not premiering songs Maiden has yet to play wasn't much of a rule at all. Who could've guessed!

    Nicko McBrain

He didn't perform, though. I get the feeling it's the combination that's the issue - air travel and having to perform multiple times each week. Not to mention the usual travel woes with sleep and such which surely didn't help. Totally different when you get to sleep in your own bed and go...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

Infinite Dreams, and oddly enough DWYBO are the two songs I think would've certainly fit this setlist like a glove, assuming two other songs got replaced. For the latter, the obvious choice is AH, but I dunno what I'd do to fit in ID since there's no really obvious swap there. Maybe remove...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

I've found a new angle to be pissed off about: Nicko's health troubles forcing him to retire from touring also meant he wasn't around when they were putting the RFYL set together to demand they play Infinite Dreams. I'm almost positive it would've happened since he's played it so many times with...

    Battle of the unsingable choruses

Can I vote for both? Mother of Mercy is a track I mostly skip since it just sounds bad, it's full of clumsy lyrics and musically it's okay but not anything special. Lightning Strikes Twice is easily one of the worst tracks on the band's worst album with an atrocious chorus. I'd rather not...

Was the album "Brave New World" like "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" part II?

You don't need an interview for that. I never made the connection myself, but it was brought up on these very forums and it instantly clicked since the lyrics are pretty obvious once you think about it. Bruce's very own autobiography I think touches upon those topics, not that it takes much of a...

Was the album "Brave New World" like "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" part II?

Completely unrelated to the topic, but I think the most cursed thing I've ever seen was King Diamond dressed casual in a backwards ball cap on stage with Metallica back in '99 doing their Mercyful Fate medley: Feel free to do as you wish with this information. I think Bruce might benefit from...

Kevin Shirley - What do you dislike about his work with Maiden? (if you do)

I think the biggest issue with Maiden and solo project productions from Maiden members is that they're all old men who've no doubt lost quite a bit of hearing in the upper range from age but also in general due to working under noisy conditions. Steve obviously has this the worst since he...

Poll: Dance of Death vs. Hell on Earth?

Dance of Death with quite a large margin. Hell on Earth was a pleasant surprise in many ways, despite still following many of the Harris epic formula elements to a T, but Dance of Death is a fun story told in a straightforward but musically interesting manner. Plus it has a solo section that's...

Kevin Shirley - What do you dislike about his work with Maiden? (if you do)

The way I see it, he didn't want his name on there because he did what he was told and brickwalled an already loud mix to all hell. Not his fault necessarily since he simply satisfied the clients' requests, but ultimately his responsibility as the mastering engineer. So he took himself off the...

Kevin Shirley - What do you dislike about his work with Maiden? (if you do)

I think this has been proven to be a questionable claim at best, since the mastering engineer was known for brickwalled mixes, and the current Mastered for iTunes version of the album that's replaced the previous everywhere has the same mix, but not brickwalled to the point the bass frequencies...

Kevin Shirley - What do you dislike about his work with Maiden? (if you do)

For all the Shirley isn't the problem posts I'd like to point out that he did admit in his own published studio notes that he doesn't like putting in extra work for sounds. Specifically I think he said if Nicko tunes his drums right then they should sound good once mic'd up. Which of course is a...

Was the album "Brave New World" like "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" part II?

I don't think anything else needs to be said. It's got plenty of VXI's flaws but at least doesn't sound nigh-on unlistenably bad, the repetition isn't as insane as it was on the previous record and it has a literal modern classic of a lead single. And one song where the only memorable section...

Kevin Shirley - What do you dislike about his work with Maiden? (if you do)

It's a little striking if you go from the studio B-sides to the live tracks on Best of the B-sides. It's like a completely different band, and that's even though the live mixes aren't stunningly great either. But at least you can hear the guitars!

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

I do think there's something to be said about just how fucking well-tuned Nicko's kit was. It's no small feat, it's a massive setup with nine toms to tune and yet it's like Nicko found the perfect pitches for all of them. He didn't even trust the tech with it back in the day, he was well into...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

The phrase "don't look" is repeated 84 fucking times in Don't Look to the Eyes of a Stranger, the worst song Iron Maiden has ever put out. It's absurd to think that song somehow exists and four different people played or sang on it.
