    Bruce's voice

I'm probably alone in this, but Dickinson sounds like he has a slight cold during a couple of songs on Brave New World (Dream Of Mirrors, for example).

1st maiden show coming up, what to expect?

That's interesting. Do they play the original version through the PA, the cover that they did?

Paul Di'Anno to perform ENTIRE debut Maiden album on upcoming Australian tour!

Hmm, Paul Di'Anno doing Maiden covers... what else is new. This is incorrect. Paul has done this before. It seems he rarely plays his own material.

    Most Underrated Maiden Song

Regarding "Deja Vu" I must disagree, citing "The Prophecy" as one of the higher-quality Murray songs in the (later) 80's. Though I don't know whether I'd say with full conviction that "Caught Somewhere In Time" is underrated, it is definately underplayed.

    Most Underrated Maiden Song

That made me laugh... I'm not someone who's crazy about solos, but for some reason I prefer Smith doing his original guitar parts, rather than Gers doing them. Heheh, good point. It's been years since I've last gone to an Iron Maiden show (although set list choices are not the reason). I must...

Why has some great songs been overlooked when it came to playing them live?

Songs they should work back into the set list: Blood On The World's Hands, The Duellists, The Prophecy, When Two Worlds Collide, Running Silent... just to name a few. Speaking of Running Silent..., lyrics are fine in my opinion. Dickinson has written worse. I wish they would omit a few staples...

Are Maiden t-shirts the new Fashion statement?

In japan, where less than 1% of the population is Christian, people will wear the rosary around their neck as jewelery. I'm sure it must be disrespectful in the eyes of a Christian. Welcome to the real world my friend, where many couldn't care less about the things you hold in high esteem. To...

NEWS: Maiden have started writing NEW material!

Was exploring the past years over at Kevin Shirley's site when I came to this page. If you scroll down to where the Ozzy picture is, there's an interesting entry... "April 1st, 2003 Greetings! Well, today we finish mixing the new Iron Maiden album, and with a very unusual song indeed. The guys...

Some Maiden songs a bit "slow" on CD??

I agree, it's a great song either way. I just like the studio one better. I think most songs are somewhat flexible... rock/metal songs anyway. I wouldn't ask for carbon copy renditions of songs when done live; I like the idea of a rock song being almost like a breathing moving/changing entity...

Some Maiden songs a bit "slow" on CD??

I'm probably the only one here, but I like the mid-tempo version of Icarus more than the fast paced live one. I also really enjoy the harmony vocals during the chorus in the studio version. I don't always like when Maiden speed up the tempo of songs... sometimes it can mar the song. A good...

    Tell us about your avatar

Can't remember where I got this pic. I came across it somewhere on the internet years ago and liked it, and I've been using it mostly as my avatar since.

NEWS: Maiden have started writing NEW material!

Heh, from reading the posts, I got the sense that Will-I-Am was in his late 50's or something... but you're only 34, right? Dude, you're not past your prime yet. I sometimes wonder where the mindset comes from that it's downhill from 30 onward.

    Paul Di'Anno

Re: Paul Di'Anno I have Di'Anno's Nomad release... not a great record, but not too bad either. Di'Anno's voice sounds excellent on it. I love the growling & screaming he does. I think he sounds better now than in his Maiden days. It's too bad he spends most of his time badly rehashing old...

Isn't that the point, though... so that this generation wouldn't need to sacrifice anything? [edited for grammar]

Hmm... for some reason I always thought the Iron Maiden Commentary website was his. I once registered here years ago... remember him helping me with my account at the time.

    Iced Earth

Cornfedhick summed up my thoughts with his post, but a few things... I watched all four parts twice and I still couldn't decipher what was the "awakening" they kept mentioning... kinda reminds me of a pointless scientology video I once sat through. Perhaps I wasn't paying close enough attention...

Ronnie James Dio (1942-2010) - The Official Topic

I heard that R.J. Dio was in the hospital... didn't know the reason until now. Cancer is a huge deal, needless to say. If he beats the disease, he will still have to be checked regularly for any sign of resurgence. This early detection will certainly be a key factor in saving his life.
