News Iron Maiden News, Links, and Interviews

I think you've probably summed it up very well there. If the best we can say is there's a good balance between long and short songs and some long songs have interesting parts, it's a bit damning with faint praise. It just has no fire or intensity. It feels like Maiden without much to say...

News Run For Your Lives World Tour 2026 Rumours and Speculation

This is sounding a lot like the Metallica debate. Ozzy as a brand is waaaay bigger than Maiden could ever hope to be..but it has nothing to do with music. And, yeah, it's fair to say that's on Sharon's management. But what I'm struggling to see is why that would be considered a good thing. Fair...

    Dynamo 2000

This is probably my favourite ever Maiden gig. I did the FC bus which took an absolute eternity but we were rewarded with an upgraded hotel which was really too nice for the dirty band of Maiden fans who invaded. I remember Nijmegen being beautiful, Bruce being at his most aggressive, berating...

    Ed Hunter

If it's any help, I thought the same as you a couple of years ago and did manage to get it working eventually. It wasn't worth the hassle... It wasn't even fun from a nostalgia point of view. I remember desperately wanting to like it when it came out but it was just a chore to play.

The fan club was really excellent then. Always seemed to be a great trip being organised and the merch just for signing on was super high quality. I only sign up now for pre sales now as it's mostly pointless. That Earls Court meet and greet feels like a fever dream, can't imagine them doing...

News Run For Your Lives World Tour 2026 Rumours and Speculation

Iron maiden is a fundamentally uncool band deep in it's core. It's not really designed to be easy to get or be accessible. They're very take it or leave it. Metallica are all about accessible cool and have been for a very long time. It's an image for tough guys slinging whiskey and smoking...

    News 18th Studio Album discussion

You get he doesn't exist to please you, right? I mean, maybe you could look at it a different way, that perhaps Steve has earned the right to do whatever he wants after all these years. I can't believe I'm lucky enough to still have Maiden in my life at all after all these years. Maybe try a...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

I'm really not seeing the controversy here. When did we start taking Nick's stories at face value? This has been his schtick for decades. He's winding up his mates.

What's the worst Maiden song where the songwriting credit only has (Harris)?

dont think there's anything wrong with the guitar stuff at all, think both Dave and Jan shine on that album. But for song structure and lyrics it's often pretty bad. This one just can't be redeemed for me as it passes into comedy levels of awful with the clumsiness and repetition. All hindsight...

What's the worst Maiden song where the songwriting credit only has (Harris)?

Don't look to the eyes of a stranger is a disaster . For me one of the very worst Maiden songs. I can't stop laughing when Blaze blurts out the chorus out of nowhere then has the audacity to repeat that line 800 times. Lost in a lost world annoys me. I love the freaky intro and it felt...

NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING - Your thoughts…

I loved both No Prayer and FOTD at the time. I think being young youre maybe a bit less critical, or at least discerning... But I can barely listen to either now and I sort of hate that. FOTD and a Real Live One were everything to me at the time. I remember rating all the Maiden songs and...

NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING - Your thoughts…

It all just feels so tired and phoned in, like an obligation. I feel like they had lost a bit of their identity at this point and lacked a proper direction. If you look at the albums preceding it, they had a loose theme, something that held it all together. No Prayer had none of that, it...

Kevin Shirley - What do you dislike about his work with Maiden? (if you do)

For Shirley's faults, and I do recognise them, he has done a great job of balancing the competing demands of an incredibly demanding, set in their ways band, with a famously distinctive sound, alongside the need to make Maiden fit in with modern music. Whether you like the sound or not it's...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

I think, weirdly, Maiden fans can be wildly over-critical compared to fans of other acts. But I've always felt like it was similar to a family dynamic... like you've got a brother who you love to bits but even though they record and release Virtual XI, you can look past it because of your...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

Simon looks like he's won the lottery and I can't help feel chuffed for the guy. Honestly he's not Nicko and it is noticeable, he doesn't have that incredible rolling feel that Nick blessed us with. But Nicko truly was something special, and unique. With all that said, I can't say I enjoyed...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

If you're forensically examining the vocals it's pretty clear that Bruce's range and stamina have dropped off, it's going to be pretty easy to see the differences compared to previois tours. But seeing it in that live setting away from YouTube clips, it all felt incredibly powerful and much...

Time travel: Which legendary Maiden shows of the past would you attend? (pick two)

Yeah, Bruce's first gig back. The performance sounded absolutely incredible but I've only seen that really low quality Youtube one. Caught the Paris show which was the first in Europe and an incredible atmosphere but that St John one would have been something else!
