Adrian, Janick and Dave's guitars and Steve's basses

Anything's possible. I will just say that I've never had the feeling he was a neck swapping kinda guy (like David Gilmour :D ). I know H did on his first Jackson, so you could be right of course :)

Adrian, Janick and Dave's guitars and Steve's basses

Steve seems to have had the white one with rosewood fretboard since (at least) 1980. This photo from Infinite Dreams states Reading 1980. Also found these 2 from Google.

I always liked Dave's Jacksons Weird lighting on Steve's bass. It almost looks black. I'm sure there are hints of blue in there, so it has to be the hero bass in lake placid blue sparkle. :D

So i n terms of a rough chronology.... 19xx? Sunburst Jazz Bass, rosewood fretboard with block inlays. (First seen 1976) 1970's Fender Precision, maple body and fretboard, dot inlays (Main bass) (White -> Matte Black -> Blue Sparkle -> West Ham) 19xx's Fender Precision, maple fretboard...

Adrian, Janick and Dave's guitars and Steve's basses

Did we ever have a post listing Steve's main basses? I did try to read everything im this thread today but didn't see one (could be that I'm blind :D ) Obviously there's the West Ham bass (White then Black then Blue Sparkle then West Ham). Then there's the Checquer Board and the blue...

It's almost a hundred quid more the a standard wah (which google is telling me is about £144 at the moment. I hope there's something interesting about the electronics and not just some nice art on it.

The DunlopUSA page on insta has that and a few others. I haven't seen any info on Dunlop's website though.

Adrian, Janick and Dave's guitars and Steve's basses

I tried to buy one from him when he announced his retirement. Sadly it was just too much for my wallet. :(

Adrian, Janick and Dave's guitars and Steve's basses

I'm quite new to the world of delay (despite playing guitar for about 35 years) but I'm noticing that something in the ballpark of 380ms seems to be a very common setting (except for special circumstances/ unusual sounds). David Gilmour, for example, has 2 main settings 370/ 380ms (though...

I spent years looking for the answer and then found out it's a trick used by quite a few guitarists.

I believe it's a dotted 8th note repeat. Tempo depends on your playing tempo. ☺️

Just for clarity, but this isn't the other Black Strat with the rosewood fretboard, from BotT, LAD, SiT and earlier, right? I mean he also states on the COA that it was used on demos in 1987 - so I guess 7th Son era demos?

Yes. It does look a bit filtered..... I'm sure there used to be pics of an open air show where he played this. And I'm sure Steve played a white bass (if I'm remembering correctly). Been looking to find those pics again a for ages.

I'm not generally a pre-relic kinda guy. I think natural wear is best.... But Janick's one should definitely be more beaten up

Thanks for the reply. Even though I've been playing guitar for 35 years, I'm still learning about these things Infinite Dreams is a favourite. I should definitely try that intro on the neck pickup
