You've nailed it. It is rarely about how much a fan loves the band, or how much the much the music has meant to them. It may be the relative absence of other meaningful things going on in their lives, which artificially elevates Maiden to being the sole dominant thing. There are some really...

    Nicko McBrain

Are you sure people's heads and hearts demarcate their experiences into the neat lines you have drawn? Nicko has always been an emotional man for sure, not the calculating and excessively rational type.

    Nicko McBrain

There is a question that is a very human one: do we expect Nicko to process the emotions around what has transpired on mute? Anger, sadness, frustration, resignation, and the proverbial 'watching your wife with another man' syndrome. He is only human, and a talkative man to say the least, so...

    Nicko McBrain

Nicko is not wrong about Bruce’s timing (at least at the start of the tour). Screens are a matter of opinion, and many share his.

Steve, Bruce, H, Dave, Janick, are all still personally registered under their own names, they didn't resign. But they also have personal holdings companies as well (eg. 'Gers, Janick Robert' is there, so is 'Janick Gers Holdings LTD')

I feel the same way. Not only does Maiden now prefer a few months of touring each year, but that is also their main revenue generator. Recording music doesn't pay the bills anymore and seems more like 'work' for some of them, I guess, rather than fun. Having said aaaaaaallll of that, it has...

Nicko has resigned from Iron Maiden LLP on 7 December 2014. But 'N McBrain Holdings LTD' is still an active member (starting in 2008). Suggests Nicko is 'half in' now, with a company in his name there to continue his more limited engagements.

The best five short rockers Maiden have done since 1990?

I've speculated that since he was 42 years old at that moment, writing 'pure bangers' is simply not something he carried into middle age. There are banging parts to his longer songs aplenty. But his instinct and desire to write short, sharp powerful maiden tunes just vanished. Though for me...

The best five short rockers Maiden have done since 1990?

Rainmaker Wickerman Man on the Edge Futureal Fallen Angel Honourable mention to Judas Be My Guide and Lord of the Flies I feel the short rockers have dropped in quality over the last two albums. I quite like Stratego and Death or Glory … but not that much.

    Janick's role in post-reunion Maiden

yes, plus three guitarists in the band shares the work load. Which also extends their longevity, since Dave and H don't have the same energy as Bruce and Steve to just keep working all the time, let alone run around in stage. Into their 50s and 60s, keeping the energiser bunny that is Janick in...

Poll: The strongest 90s Maiden album

Fear of the Dark is an enjoyable album for sure, and just so nostalgic. But X Factor is an interesting album, in all its imperfections, what it says about Steve's inner world. His sense of musical inventiveness. And how he wanted to develop Maiden's sound. So I picked X Factor with FOTD a close...

Poll: The strongest 90s Maiden album

I feel the same about these two tracks. Judas… feels like such a classic sounding maiden song. Apparition is a song led by the lyrics, unusual for maiden, its instrumental backing is not the highlight. The words have a very good meaning and spirit (:)

Agreed the chances have gone up, that Bruce interview is the first time I’ve felt excited about Maiden future plans in a while. Strong feeling (hope?) we get some movement on this in 2026, don’t think they will wait for RFYL to be completely done.

Funnily enough, I more or less feel exactly the same way about these three. Lost in a Lost World has grown on me somewhat, I should add.

    Battle of the unsingable choruses

Mother of Mercy is one of my least favourite Maiden tunes, one of the few I dislike from the reunion era. Maiden by numbers, lyrics that seem leftover from the previous album, with an incomprehendible 'studio magic' chorus. Whereas Lightning Strikes twice has a brilliant show-stopping Janick...

Was the album "Brave New World" like "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" part II?

There’s a celestial vibe across parts of each album, certainly in Dream of Mirrors. The cover art and colours also convey the feeling of dreams … so not a comparison across the board, but something of the vibe. They are also both fairly slickly produced maiden albums (as opposed to raw, more...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

Good question. I’m glad for the excitement around the tour and it was a delight to be in the London stadium crown. Almost all the x50 shows I’ve seen have been the reunion era, so the highlights of the current show have already been the highlights of past tours (and I generally preferred how...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

From my own perspective, seeing the band first time in 1998, I share your sentiments. This tour feels like the start of a long wave good bye to the band, whereas as recently as half a year ago, I actually still felt very excited and future focussed with the Future Past Tour. I’ve loved seeing...
