    Metallica

I'm just not sure how this ends well. Why exactly do we need a film with what sounds like a gimmicky story line set alongside a Metallica concert? What could possibly be the nature of an "urgent mission" during a Metallica concert that doesn't turn out cheesy? Of course, I could be wrong and it...

    Primal Rock Rebellion

I would agree that the mood of "Lord of Light" is very different. I was commenting only on the song structure, a category in which the two do display a great amount of similarity. You did not in any way come across as arrogant in the previous post or in any other posts. What I was displaying...

IRON MAIDEN TO BRING THE STUNNING MAIDEN ENGLAND WORLD TOUR TO EUROPE IN 2013

Interesting about "Run to the Hills"... The impression I'd gotten about that album was that Bruce was making sure not to contribute too much to where he'd even deserve a credit, like more in the vein of creative input than any actual songwriting. Has anyone listened the context of that statement...

    Primal Rock Rebellion

I think it probably would go better if we were in the same room. I have no doubts that others can hear it, I just fail to do so. The song that "Starblind" feels most like to me is "Lord of Light" and that's a bit more of a song structure type of thing (similar sounding quiet opening into fuzzy...

    Primal Rock Rebellion

I've really tried it, but I don't hear "Don't Look to the Eyes of a Stranger" at all. And this isn't denial on my part since, as you may recall, I enjoy DLttEoaS. I wouldn't deny the existence of an influence, and would in fact find it interesting, but I failed to hear it using both of your...

    Primal Rock Rebellion

Personally, I find the interplay between the vocal melody and the melodies of the other instruments to be one of the most brilliant aspects of "Starblind". I don't know whether it was Steve or Bruce who wrote the vocal melody, but it's really brilliant (I suspect Steve, I just wanted to sneak...

IRON MAIDEN TO BRING THE STUNNING MAIDEN ENGLAND WORLD TOUR TO EUROPE IN 2013

I don't have Maiden England in any form, since I don't have a VCR, didn't want to track down the CD, and I knew it would be released soon to coincide with the tour. So I'm very excited for it to be released.

    British Lion 2013 Tour

I think is is an excellent point, and: if there are disputes within Maiden, they are doing a very good job of acting in a professional manner despite it. Honestly, I don't see any reason for concern over the internal status or longevity (aside from the fact that the members of the band are...

    Metallica

I've never understood any of the "Fight Fire" hate. It is easily my favorite Metallica opener. The main riff is just so evocative of the subject matter, and James' lyrics and vocals are just fantastic. Nothing against any of the other openers; Metallica knows how to begin an album, but "Fight...

    Metallica

I would agree that the album is more similar to Puppets than to Lightning. In my opinion, though, the standout tracks of "One", "To Live Is To Die", "Dyers Eve" and "Harvester of Sorrow" make it a better album than its immediate predecessor and about on par with or slightly better than the...

What is the fourth Virtual Xi song in Brave New World?

I don't know anything about a novel, but I know he based it on an 80s film called When the Wind Blows (no "wild"). It shouldn't be too hard to find it online, I watched it a few months back. The plot isn't identical, but it's very clearly Steve's inspiration for the song. There's even a picture...

The following joke is in spoilers due to gratuitous 80s James Hetfield impression which necessitates a large amount of profanity:

    Metallica

I don't recall there ever being a point where opposing nuclear war was a high priority of the environmentalist movement. The environmentalist movement seems to have always been more interested in issues such as pollution and depletion of natural resources. So in the sense of it being song of the...

    Metallica

The message of the song is pretty clearly "a nuclear war would decimate the entire planet forever," not "carbon emissions/pollution will decimate the entire planet forever." In that sense, I would say it is absolutely not an environmentalist song. It is an anti-nuclear war song (and in the...

    Metallica

You know, I see it interpreted as this all the time, but I just don't think it is an environmentalist song at all. I'm fairly certain it's about nuclear winter, and in that sense is Fight Fire With Fire's sequel. Certain clues in the lyrics point it to have been about nuclear winter: "millions...

    Metallica

I do think that Master of Puppets - the album and its title track - have been very much overrated. The album is in last place for me out of the first four (1. Ride the Lightning 2. ...And Justice for All 3. Kill 'Em All 4. Master of Puppets 5. the Black Album), and the song, while so many seem...

    Metallica

@The Flash: That's not a bad point. Normally, given their ages, I would give them two more, but then given the speed they work... It doesn't sound unlikely that this will be it. Actually, the cool thing they have been doing in 2012 is taking control of their whole business. I'm not sure how...

    Metallica

They can definitely be forgiven some of the earlier breaks on the point of personal problems, but I don't recall there being anything like that since Death Magnetic. What is the excuse for a total of six years since then to the next album?

    Metallica

Well, I figured I would be unfair to compare gods like Maiden to mortals like Metallica. :P

    Metallica

Well, in their defense, they do quite a bit of touring. But really, they are VERY slow on new material. Compare to Megadeth, who released Th1rt3en in 2011; and are in the studio currently recording their fourteenth album. Oh well. EVENTUALLY, we'll have a new Metallica album.
