Official thread for Final Frontier discussion

Re: Official thread for Final Frontier discussion (Spoilers inside) I'm loving that screen name. Well done, I certainly got a good chuckle out of it.

How good are Iron Maiden (individually)?

I suppose. I guess comical isn't exactly right either, theatrical is probably more appropriate. Like an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, theatrical and even perhaps over the top, but it makes it no less art. And as far as Death Metal goes, like any genre or subgenre in metal, a majority of it IS...

    So is this the last?

Also in a BBC radio interview it sounded  like Adrian wanted to write some shorter rockers for the next album.

    Favorite band member?

Ah, okay we're on the same page now. I think it's a difference of philosophy, because what I see from Bruce and Steve, is confidence in what they're doing as performers and entertainers. Yeah Bruce can be a little pretentious, but then again he makes Da Vinci seem lazy with the amount of things...

How good are Iron Maiden (individually)?

Of course not, but you know there's always going to be a tad of macabre silliness when it comes to metal music. I think one needs to look at any performer with that in mind, so a name like theirs is really par for the course when it comes to metal names. Hell, I'm not even a huge fan of...

    Favorite band member?

I suppose I might not of indicated everything I meant with that. Bruce goes up and messes with Janick, and does plenty of fun stuff with the crowd, he's just a vocal version of the dancing of Janick. Steve runs around, rocks out and sings along to almost everything even though there's no mic...

How good are Iron Maiden (individually)?

Well at least it's not a band named for a medieval torture device, right? :P Helloween is goofy and everything, but I think you have to take a little bit of that no matter what if you're going to be a heavy metal fan.

    Favorite band member?

I'm pretty sure the only one who's too cool for school is H, and well, that's because he is.

    Best Flight Song

Coming Home :P Uh... that's a tough one, but I think I'll have to say Aces High, for the live aspect (Flight of Icarus has been plagued by in my opinion a not that great appearance on Live After Death, even though every other time I've heard it live it sounds great)

How good are Iron Maiden (individually)?

I think there are better drummers than Nicko, but Nicko is by no means a slouch. I greatly appreciate anyone who isn't just a machine and actually feels the music the way Nick obviously does.

The 60-year old doctor from Norway

I'm with you. There's a reason that there's an oath towards ethics when one enters medicine. If I were to cut out on my marketing job, that'd be one thing, but make a client not so happy is one thing... someone could have died!

The Man Who Would Be King

What would be crazy is if it was, and that he could play the damn thing note for note live. I love Janick, but, y'know. :P

Any fan of Trouble and Eric Wagner is a friend of mine.

    Favorite bands

This list is just going to include a lot of bands that have meant a lot to me over the years. Also my taste is hyper-eclectic. 1. Devin Townsend 2. Iron Maiden 3. Type O Negative 4. Modest Mouse (Hey now, I'm allowed to like what I like :P) 5. Rush 6. Queens of the Stone Age 7. Judas Priest 8...

    The Alchemist

Dude, it's cool you don't need to justify your differing opinion, I like the Alchemist a lot as well, it really helps balance TFF, which is something AMOLAD kinda lacked (still an awesome album though)

Dance of Death vs. A Matter of Life and Death

Paschendale is better than anything on AMOLAD and Rainmaker is amazing, but beyond that I'd say AMOLAD is pretty much better overall. The only thing about AMOLAD, was that Dance of Death was so much faster to enjoy (the intro to Rainmaker, I was good) it took me a few listens to really...

    The Alchemist

I won't say outright that it's better than Rainmaker (That was like my favorite song for a year or so, and still my favorite single of the reunion era), but I absolute love love LOOOOOVE the Thin Lizzy guitar tone on this song.

Who hasn't heard The Final Frontier?

I'll be curious to hear the responses of people about the whole album after only hearing El Dorado and The Final Frontier for so long. (I'm curious as to what you guys expected based on those two songs)

    The Hangover Thread

Had a bottle of wine myself while my flatmates shared another last night (hey, I finished university forever, give me a break :P) Ow.
