Rush All the World's a Stage (1976) Rush collect material from each of their first four albums and pop out their first live record. It's a good first showcase of their power as a live act. The performances are pretty tight and the setlist is mostly made up of classics. "Bastille Day" and...

Rush 2112 (1976) 1. 2112 I. Overture - A spacey sci-fi synth piece opens this behemoth like wind in stardust. Enigmatic, mystifying - and then the band kicks in. Slowly, at first, toying with you, your attention piqued, before taking off into a sprint with the opening riff, mixing distortion...

Prolly updating tonight, top 3 are set but another voter or two could change which one goes to the finals.

No, that’s why I specifically said Murders and Killers are 3 (with Wrathchild) of the most popular songs from that album. Something like Prodigal Son, Innocent Exile, even Purgatory would be a deep cut. Poto said it best though, they’re classics but live rarities.

My logic: Killers is a classic Maiden record (despite my own feelings on it). Murders and the title track are two of the three most popular songs on it, therefore they’re classics despite less live play.

Not only is the live comparison apt, but even in studio, Maiden and Priest have released the same number of albums since 2000 (6), and I think general consensus is that Maiden’s millennium material is by and large consistently strong, while Priest have had highs and lows. The time between The...

Rush Caress of Steel (1975) 1. Bastille Day - The opening of this song is Rush really showing off their ability to rock - two great, heavy riffs, the first grabbing your attention and the second sliding in with a wry, grin, setting the stage for this anthem of revolution. Geddy shouts out...

3 "Stratego" +3 2 No Prayer for the Dying [remaster] +2 1 "Be Quick or Be Dead" +1 A still from Maiden's absolute worst music video. A red flag with a samurai Eddie. An edit of a solid album cover. An orange re-color of an already bad single cover. A black-and-white version of an album cover...

Curious Musings: My top 40 songs of all time!

The top 3 is basically Metal Riffing 101 lol. All songs that redefined the genre. “Holy Wars” has one of my favorite riffs ever, although I always felt that “The Punishment Due” wasn’t quite as strong as the first two minutes. Still a great song though.

I’ve been in the same boat and what I discovered is that for me it depends on resolution. I love the cover if you blow it up real big. Yeah, it’s pretty easily the weakest of the three single covers IMO. But we’ll see how it does in about nine rounds. Maybe it’s down to the fact that CIPWM and...

You only missed three out of the first twenty ladders! There's plenty of the game left to join in on! I missed the early parts of MindRuler's album cup and I still had a great time once I started participating.

Rush Fly by Night (1975) 1. Anthem - The needle drops and immediately we are flung into a way busier, more complex piece than anything on the previous album. Neil Peart is absolutely running circles around Rutsey across this whole track, it's insane. A song like "Anthem" would be 1/10th of what...

It looks like the top 2 are secure, but that wildcard #3 could very quickly change with another voter or three. This is one of the reasons I was excited for this game; as much as we can usually agree on what's an S tier Maiden cover verses an F, some people get something different out of these...
