The info I posted was for Ticketmaster UK and my ticket was a mobile one. Not sure how it works in other countries and with other ticket agencies.. At least here in the UK it was pretty straight forward.

Got in touch with ticketmaster. While you can't upgrade you can contact their support and if you book for the same venue, same or higher price and not through the resale market, then they will refund your old ticket. Just did it and I am waiting for confirmation they refunded my GA one. There...

I think Helloween did somethign similar for their reunion tour and while some of them were funny, it completely killed the pace and mood.
