I think there is a way to get a criticism across without being annoying. First warning sign is when forum regulars start quoting you in exasperation. At the end of the day this is a fan space and it means people prefer positivity and an upbeat atmosphere together with the energy and excitement...

After reading all the reviews below is my prediction of all the songs from most favorite to least. Just wanted to put this out there so that i can come back is revisit once the album is out.

I think it is about finding balance. This is maidenfans forum and therefore your only existance should not be to complain all the time. The positives should outweigh the negatives. I think that is what gets most people annoyed, the incessant complaining on multiple threads on the same thing...

Hahaha.. so true. There is no musical evolution from the 80s. Priest is what would have happened to Maiden if they had listened to the Powerslave 2 fans on this board.

I think everyone need to look at their past 30 posts in the forum and see how many posts are positive and how many are negative. I think if your posts are overwhelmingly negative then you should really do a self reflection on what the hell you are doing in a maidenfans forum. One or two gripes...

People have the right to listen to an album they bought however they like. If somebody asked for my opinion, I would say don't second guess the artist and just follow the order of the album. Otherwise, to each his own and all I have to say is cheers and enjoy Senjutsu!

My plan is to not get burnt out on stratego and twotw by limiting how many times i listen to it. Even though I only played the songs once in the last 24 hours, I have been playing the Stratego riff on the guitar all day long. Damn it! :facepalm:

That is why i said that it could be on par with BNW. Rainmaker i think came after album was released

What slightly worries me is that some of album reviews complained about the same thing in parts of the whole of the album. However, i believe the strength of the songs will overcome any issues with sound just like Stratego overcomes this as a song. We will probably have to tweak our sound...

The strength of the 1st two released songs already puts it on par with any of the best Book of Souls and TFF Songs. Keeping in mind Maiden would never release their best stuff prior to the release of the album, I think Senjutsu will easily surpass BOS and TFF and most likely be on par with BNW.

Wow your impression of the mix is the exact opposite of mine. I found WOTW mix to be so much better than Stratego. Stratego rhythm guitars sounded muddied and Bruce in the verse sounded burried in the mix

That is high praise. Aces high is an absolute beast. The intro, the pace, the riffs, the solos and the soaring vocals. Everything is perfect in that song which is still going strong after 30 years. I like Stratego a lot but will have to see in six months time how i feel about it.

I am gonna try not to listen to both singles now so that the songs feel fresh when the album comes out. Two weeks of not listening ought to help.

Janick wrote the song. He could have had as many chord changes he would have liked. He plays the same bag of notes in every song recently. You could interchange his solo in Ghost of the Navigator, Paschendale, Dance of Death etc with the Stratego solo. The whole thing has a jamming over a rhythm...

I hope my super deluxe boxset comes with audio setting instruction for each song :ninja:

So while i was driving back, I played Stratego on spotify and once it ended it immediately went on to TWOTW on the playlist. What i found was that the overall volume just jumped up a notch. It makes me wonder what kind mastering did Kevin Shirley do? Did anyone else have the same experience...

The song has an urgency and energy to it. Also, the maiden gallop is back and it will surely be played even faster live
