Based on personal experience, individual tastes tend to develop at a later age. I would suggest exposing them to as many different musical artists/styles as possible and let them develop their own musical taste.
My daughter likes some of the music I listen to and has been to gigs with me...

I personally would wait until he is a bit older to introduce him to the wonderful music of Iron Maiden. He would probably be able to appreciate it more.
It is a great book, visually stunning and really well put together. Yesterday I finally found the time to begin reading it and I quite liked what I have read so far (up until Paul was fired and Bruce joined the band).
