The Book of Souls: General album discussion

I am currently listening with great satisfaction and with headphones, to the Book of Souls album. Only got to when the river...but I'm already sold on this great album! Mark my words, if you DONT like this album, you're not an Iron Maiden fan, simple as that. Period. End of Story!

Five years later: The Final Frontier revisited

I hope you didn't missed out on the en Vivo version of Wild Wind, which a did for quite a while. Makes this great song even better!

    When the Wild Wind Blows

Yeah en Vivo version is 10/10, I agree Bruce. Excels on that one. I give the album version 9/10.

    Mother of Mercy

Agree with Ironbaz, this is a song that doesnt have parts of that feels like it could have been cut out. There is a couple of songs of TFF that are better, but this the best "shortish" of the album. 8/10 Actually when I listen to the whole TFF album, its on a whole a bit better than I thought...

    El Dorado

This is a pretty average song to me with some good gallop riffing and some other good parts but, it just doesnt go anywhere for me...6/10.

    Isle of Avalon

This is a song you have to be in the right mood to appreciate. It's not excatly a rocker is it. But it's a pretty well crafted song, with lots of things going to it. So with a bit of patience you got a nice experience listening to it. 7/10

    Satellite 15.. The Final Frontier

In many of the TFF album songs I kinda dislike the intros, but the intro to TFF (the song) is actually pretty cool. But the song doesnt take off at it should after that. Too repetitive. Meh Chorus. 6/10.

    The Alchemist

This song does have some Classic Iron Maiden riffing too. But it's just, meh, to me. Could have been even faster and aggressive I think, if it had it would come to is own better. 6/10

    Coming Home

I dislike the intro it feels of beat. The verse is good. The chorus OK. Perhaps my 5th favorite of the album. 7/10.

The Man Who Would Be King

This song is great in part, but too soft and tedious in some parts. I dislike the intro and Bruce singing has a strange rythm, too much words I think. But it's pretty dramatic, and got some slick parts, with signature Iron Maiden guitarwork, so it is not an uninteresting song. 7/10
  15. Kaos

    Starblind

Another facinating song with a lot of SSOASS feel to it. It's pretty long and have a few parts that slow it down unnecessary, but overall a great track. 8/10.

    The Talisman

Behind WTWWB, this is one of the better songs of TFF. I give it 8/10. Sometimes I feel the first part to be a bit long and boring. Depends on what mood your on though, if you in a "no hurry" mood, the intro and other slower parts arent really bothersome. Got some great riffing, and I like the...

    When the Wild Wind Blows

This is my favorite song of the TFF album. I give it a 9/10. Although I was thinking of a perfect 10, it's very near to that, but I feel that it might lack some metal edge to it, and sometimes I just feel its several songs put together and not a real whole. Minor things though, mostly it's...

"The Book of Souls" - Official pre-release thread (CONTAINS ALBUM SPOILERS)

I will have to do with Speed of Light for now, I want to have my first listen from my brand new CD when it arrive next week. But good to see some great reactions here. Speed of light is strangely catchy, I am not in awe of the song, but I am still drawn to it, so I guess I'm starting to really...

Maiden Songs That Are Growing On You

Infinite Dreams is actually a bit of an anti grower (shrinker), to me as I used to hold it as one of Maidens best, but not anymore. But that is probably just because I played it too much, and wore it out a bit.
