The Official Book of Souls Tour 2016 Thread (Warning: Spoilers within!)

Most of those dates are the ones already announced, but assuming this is accurate, there seem to be three that we're missing.

The Official Book of Souls Tour 2016 Thread (Warning: Spoilers within!)

I find the lack of Maryland and Virginia shows concerning, as I live in the latter. There's not even the usual NJ show, or PA.

The Book of Souls: General album discussion

So after a month of listening, I think I can safely say I love this album. There is not a single song I dislike. My favorite tracks seem quite solid no matter how many times I relisten, with Empire of the Clouds, The Book of Souls, Shadows of the Valley, and If Eternity Should Fail being the big...

    Iron Maiden: Album Discussion

Prowler: 8 Sanctuary: 5 Remember Tomorrow: 9 Running Free: 7 Phantom of the Opera: 10 Transylvania: 8 Strange World: 7 Charlotte the Harlot: 6 Iron Maiden: 5 Album Average: 7.2 I'm going to at least attempt to be a relatively strict grader, so this is actually a pretty good showing from the...

    Running Free

It's simple sure, but it's a fun and energetic rock song, and well, what else can I say, I like it. 7/10
  7. Viperlord

    Iron Maiden

Really a rather average or below average song by Maiden standards. Still, it's got a fun vibe and I never feel much of an urge to skip it, so 6/10.
  8. Viperlord

    Strange World

7/10. Very atypical Maiden, much like Prodigal Son from the next album, but this song is not quite that special, and I never go out of my way to listen to it.

    Your Maiden blasphemy

Oh, another potentially unpopular opinion: To Tame A Land is really not a great song. It's good, but I never go out of my way to listen to it, and it's an earlier and arguably worse case of the painfully over-narrated lyrics that Steve would employ on Alexander.

    Shadows Of The Valley

It strikes me as a passive-aggressive way to say you don't like a song. If you don't like a song, fine, tell us why, don't handwave it with "filler."
  11. Viperlord

    Shadows Of The Valley

Classifying every song we don't like as filler is a tiresome habit, in my view. Maybe you think of it that way, but odds are, the band didn't when they recorded it, so regardless of the quality of the result, "filler" isn't really a good way to refer to Maiden songs we like less than others.

    Your Maiden blasphemy

Along with TRATB, WTRRD is the song from the album that has yet to really click for me. It's catchy, but not much else about it stands out to me. SOTV is a fantastic song, and I really love that chorus. TGU has been a distinct grower for me. IESF is one of my favorite Maiden openers ever, and...

    Your Maiden blasphemy

I adore the title track, personally. Second-best song on the album for me. But hey, glad to see we're generating discussion on unpopular opinions from the new album already!
  15. Viperlord

    Your Maiden blasphemy

Okay, two things here, not sure if the first opinion will be unpopular or not. 1. Wasted Years is much closer to pop rock than Speed of Light. That doesn't make it bad, but it is what it is. 2. I find it mildly amusing this post was liked by someone who based their username off Rainmaker...

    Your Maiden blasphemy

I'll throw my hat into the ring with a few opinions here. -Dance of Death is a better album than Brave New World. Admittedly this is probably a personal bias thing because DoD was my first Maiden album. (I'm 21) -While I like Piece of Mind, it's probably the least of the Bruce albums of the 80s...
  17. Viperlord

    Remember Tomorrow

I don't have much to add, as nothing much has changed about this song for me. Still great, still a very atmospheric track that is greater than the sum of its parts. 9/10
  18. Viperlord

    Charlotte the Harlot

It's silly and fluff, but surprisingly catchy and still fun. I am going to have drop it to a 5/10 though, as it is a pretty mediocre part of the overall catalogue.
  19. Viperlord

    Sanctuary

Sort of a fun vibe, good energy, but ultimately pretty forgettable. 5/10.
  20. Viperlord

    Prowler

The lyrics are creepy, and quite frankly, silly. But somehow, I don't care that much; the energy and the wailing guitar grab me immediately every time. Not a true great, but worthy of a 8/10.
