    - Andy Sneap, in 2011. This makes it clear that Sneap had an active role in shaping the songs together with Blaze and the rest of the band, including the vocal melodies. He wasn't just recording and mixing the stuff passively...

The only things that would have been similar are some of the lyrical themes, inspired by the movie "Gattaca" released in 1997. Blaze wrote the lyrics in Reach for the Horizon, The Launch and Stare at the Sun roughly based on that. Otherwise than that, not much really. It's an insult to Andy...

Dokken & Lynch Mob (and related bands)

I actually got into Lynch's music thanks to watching the Sweet & Lynch - The Wish video when it came out in 2014. I also remember reading that the first time that they met in person was to take some promo shots and to record that video.

Production is a bit to heavy for Blaze I think (guitars and bass have basically the same sound as the Bermudez brothers own death metal band, Underthreat). Blaze's vocals maybe are a bit strained at times too, but they are still good albums with lots of strong songs. I listen to them from time...

"Miles better" really, which albums? And the mix on that youtube version is not much different from the CD. Blaze is actually a really good rock singer. I don't hear any pitch issues when he performs on the right type of material. The "Doctor Doctor" cover is another highlight: He has got...

    Blaze Bayley

This is the album that Blaze and Thomas Zwijsen co-wrote and recorded together. It's one of the worst sounding records I have heard a professional artist put out and I think that Blaze expected more to come out of this collaboration. Zwijsen couldn't play the old stuff live accurate at all...

    Blaze Bayley

Going back 11 years, with the debacle with Thomas Zwijsen and the King of Metal album and tour, I never thought that Blaze would bounce back again and turn into Di'Anno 2.0. But him working with Absolva from 2014 and onwards, actually proved to be a good solution. Though they are not top...

    Blaze Bayley

I feel that the addition of a second guitarist makes it sound much better, compared to his previous live albums recorded with this band, which had just one guitar.

For those who don't use Spotify. Good production!

Listen to 3:54 on that track, that's a horrible edit on the vocals, the pasted part isn't smooth at all. This one was really good though. I don't think it has any overdubs or edits. And the mix is much better than on any other live stuff put out during the 90's.

    Blaze Bayley

I haven't listened to any of those tracks other than The Evil That Men Do for a long time now, but that recording had no overdubs. Instead, they used copy and paste and inserted Blaze's vocals from one line where he was able to sing the whole chorus, into to the other chorus parts: Just some...

Dokken & Lynch Mob (and related bands)

Lynch & Pilson also played on this tribute, together with Dee Snider, Bob Kulick and Jason Bonham. I liked the extended solo section.

Thanks for the info. Listened to that album a few years ago, and I will check it out again now. I remember that Lynch tried some more modern sounding metal riffs and effects on that album, while it also had some traditional stuff.

https://www.facebook.com/JohnMcmurtriePhotographer John McMurtrie just posted this. I don't think it has been published before. I remember that McMurtrie said that was the first time he worked with the band was in 1998 though, just at the end of the Blaze-era.

Then he exaggerated his own contribution. Steve Wray mentions in At the End of the Day that Blaze played him a vocal demo that he had recorded on a mini disc, but it was just Blaze whistling and making noises, and that it sounded like it was recorded inside a toilet. That makes it obvious that...
