I saw them live at a festival this year, they didn't really impress me.  The guitarist was kind of funny (in a good way), but otherwise they seemed to be an 80s band 30 years behind their time (not in a good way).  The good thing was that people were so uninterested (=the crowd was so thin) that...

This I don't agree with.  It's not so original, but it's got some interesting parallels (e.g. the bible) and I like how the ending is left to the listener.  Musically, the last two albums weren't amazing though they've got some good songs; in storytelling, I think Jon succeeded pretty well. ...

It has a really cool cover, but then so did the last three albums... and musically, they weren't up to par with 90s Iced Earth.  They weren't bad, it's just that they weren't the unforgettable masterpieces that the albums from Night of the Stormrider to Something Wicked were.  I hope Schaffer is...

I read this earlier today.  This guy (Beck, I mean) is despicable. Also, I have a hard time reading the news this week; seeing the shooter's smug face everywhere makes me sick.

A fantastic song, absolutely one of DT's best.  The melody is extremely catchy and this song just works live.  I agree about Stanne, plus he's one of the best metal frontmen I know.  I give it 9, with 10 reserved for some Maiden epics and other very exceptional songs.

When I last read the news, the bomb had gone off and reported several wounded.  Then I happen to be 24 hours without reading the news (attending a festival), and suddenly there are over 90 victims.  I'm just speechless.

Some countries have official language tests that certify you to study at university level, e.g. Germany has the Sprachdiplom (sp?) and France has the DELF (?).  I believe Finland in Finnish is very flexible in this (e.g. studies in Finnish at high school/university level usually qualify you)...

Great post Perun, have a praise.  During my entire concert-going "career" I've only seen one set list that was 100% perfect, and that was Slayer's Unholy Alliance in 2008.

Quite surprising, I wouldn't have expected academics to recognise metal in such a way, no matter how smart Maiden's lyrics are.  I would've wanted to hear the whole speech though, it was cut very annoyingly.
