I wouldn't expect him to be. The Stones have never replaced Wyman since 93 they have a session bassist and since 2020 a session drummer. The longterm band keep the royalties and touring members are salaried.
Wildly different band and I am not a fan but the Stones faithful seem to of accepted Steve Jordan who seems to of introduced more "swing" into their live performances.
Its Steve's band, always has been. He has played with Simon for 12 years so knows his capabilities. He normally gets these things right..... ok Blaze was a contentious choice!
I'd say he is more Clive Burr than Nicko.
In respect of the announcement re 2025 I think that is reasonable enough. See how gets on. If they decide to carry on and make another album etc in the future they can always upgrade him and make him an offical member- rather like Saxon did with Brian...
I have tickets for Manchester and will certainly go and enjoy it, but some of the magic will of gone for me I suspect! That said I am sure the replacement will be technically very good.
He said last year they wanted to tour America, so I suspect it will be this tour. Probably want to go to South America to tour TMP as well before releasing anything new.
A great shame but age catches up with us all. Maiden being hyper professional will choose a good replacement.
Maybe Simon Dawson as Steve has played and recorded with him in Lion? I am sure there are other technical drummers who could do the job.
Unusually for me I prefer the slower tracks on the first album. I wanna stay and You don't know me. Very different from Maiden!
In respect of touring I don't really know the economics involved, although interviews I have seen suggest it is the only way bands (some at least) make money these...
It is four years since the first album. How long would they take to write 10 songs?
Kotzen is an incredibly prolific writer anyway, Adrian used to be back in the day for Maiden.
