NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING - Your thoughts…

That's some mighty fine hoop jumping that No Prayer isn't judged on its merits but is a result of group-think. I think Tailgunner is decent, Daughter is great (relative to Maiden's creative standards). The rest is, for Maiden, bland and boring. I thought that in 2004-2005 when I got into Maiden...

So much for Nicko remaining a member of the band

It's possible that there is bad blood. But, other than Nicko talking about Bruce's timing (of which the intent is still very much not clear), there is nothing than pure speculation to back it up with. So what's the point of getting riled up and convinced there's trouble in paradise for when...

    Dance Of Death mixing/production

I was talking in terms of prominence in the mix, not how Steve plays.

    Dance Of Death mixing/production

I have heard the 5.1, but not the DTS. Cool!

And the bass is still very prominent.

NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING - Your thoughts…

A bit apples and oranges, but yes, it's a very nice sounding record, though for a Birch production, lackluster.

    Primal Fear

I disagree, man. Primal Fear have their own sound and style, pretty much like Maiden have had very era-specific types of songwriting and sound. That being said, Primal Fear have increasingly settled on a differerent style of riffing than their early 5 records and they have stuck with the same...

So much for Nicko remaining a member of the band

Come on buddy, they are not that different, and especially not after out of nowhere being called a bellend.

    Bruce Dickinson

I think it's a decent record, but certainly a disappointment. I had hoped for a record of the ToS quality level (I certainly didn't expect TCW or AoB, so that one is purely on you). But it's clearly a mash of finished songs and semi-finished songs. It's more of a far-along demo than a studio...

    Bruce Dickinson

"Hey all! Graham here. Please join me and the rest of the Graham Bonnet Band in wishing this guy, the sensational Bruce Dickinson, a very happy birthday! Bruce is is a fascinating man and so accomplished! Not only does he front one of the best bands in the world, he got his commercial pilot's...

Bayley-era Maiden vs. Martin-era Black Sabbath vs. Ripper-era Judas Priest?

It is pretty bad tbh, for a professional product mixed with an SSL but I think that is the result of a Harris/Shirley type of relationship. The vocals are razor thin which sounds like a typical thing Ymgwie would want.

    Bruce Dickinson

Well, he is right about this. I do not like what they did with "Tears..." Though if I were him, I would not post that online.

    USA Politics

The Sweden (and in part others, although multiple historians claim Sweden were in many ways the most leftist of the democratic western states) of the late 1960-1970s were doing this, but in a light version and more importantly, pre internet and pre globalization (the late 70's saw the first...

    USA Politics

Things were definitely better in some ways a few decades back, less good in other ways. But the way I see it, MAGA and Trump have paved the way for dedemocratication. This current government are playing a few hands out of the Trump playbook. Good old USA has showed its western companions that...

    USA Politics

10% my ass. Try around 20% this last election, but the Moderates and the Christian Conservatives have a slice of that voter category as well. The Sweden Democrats, far-right, are in a coalition with the current government since 2022 and have pushed through a lot of policy.

Bayley-era Maiden vs. Martin-era Black Sabbath vs. Ripper-era Judas Priest?

A couple of points here: Roy Z is a producer, not much of a mixer, though popular belief is that he mixed CW and AoB. He has mixed very few works, (and Halford, Priest and Dickinson aren't any of those - though Z might have mixed the unofficial, lawsuit-release, Live in London Halford gig) and...

Bayley-era Maiden vs. Martin-era Black Sabbath vs. Ripper-era Judas Priest?

That being said, they didn't try to write any classic Priest songs - they wanted to double down on the brutality of Painkiller with Jugulator and mix it up with some Thrash-ish influences (and Jugulator was already written when Ripper joined).

I think Steve enjoys touring and playing live more than studio work.
