Best Album Ever Survivor: Somewhere In Time wins

Oh, I definitely agree about the evangelical atmosphere at concerts (and most certainly on "The Rising"), but I don't hear it on Born To Run or any of his '70s albums. And yes, I think mckindog meant musically. Though Maiden can be preachier than Bruce in the sense that Bruce doesn't really...

Best Album Ever Survivor: Somewhere In Time wins

Good point. I think when you've liked something for so long, you don't realize how it comes off to other people. For instance, it is out of my realm of comprehension when someone says they don't like metal (especially Maiden, Sabbath, and Dio since, to my ears, they're extremely accessible) even...

Exact opposite for me. I like his '70s material is much more than any of his other material. I do like the tracks you listed and BITUSA, but personally I don't think anything from BITUSA through Tom Joad can touch this: I hear the whole overdramatic thing a lot and I never really got it as...

Mckindog, you should be nice and eliminate only albums with 10+ votes. :p Sorry. Still mourning the loss of Born To Run. Let's take a moment and appreciate the fallen masterpiece.

Guns n' Roses Survivor 2013 Results Thread: Estranged is the winner!

I was looking at a schedule to go see an Iron Maiden cover band and I got the dates mixed up and saw a GN'R cover band by mistake. :p

+1 for Paul Simon I am judging each and every one of you who voted for Born to Run. :( Probably my ~third favorite album ever. Then again, there's some stiff competition here.

I forgot to vote last round. The Big Come Down is one of my favorites. :( Please Underneath All

Guns n' Roses Survivor 2013 Results Thread: Estranged is the winner!

Definitely agree about Coma. I almost called it the most varied song left in the survivor in my previous post, but then I felt like I couldn't say it without picking the song apart Foro-style. :D Interesting initial picks. I actually didn't like YCBM at all upon first listen (I now realize the...

Best Album Ever Survivor: Somewhere In Time wins

Dang. I was hoping Innuendo would last longer. Oh, well. Lots of great albums in this group. My favorite non-concept/live/Iron Maiden-related album of all-time is on here. :D I&W Agents of Fortune Destroyer I haven't heard the Van Der Graaf Generator albums unfortunately. I didn't even...

Guns n' Roses Survivor 2013 Results Thread: Estranged is the winner!

It'd be hard for me to argue Coma's merits without Fugitiving, so I guess I'll just leave it at it does repeat a few vocal melodies, but I hear a lot more variation in the vocal melodies to compensate for the handful of repeating ones (the repeating ones being "Hey you caught me in a coma" and...

Guns n' Roses Survivor 2013 Results Thread: Estranged is the winner!

What's so repetitive about Coma? Especially when we're comparing it to Rime which really only has two broad sections (the first section, the midsection, and then the reprise to the first section). Coma has three. Now I get if we break it down melody by melody, you could argue Rime has more...

Guns n' Roses Survivor 2013 Results Thread: Estranged is the winner!

Coma is GN'R's Rime. Estranged is their Hallowed. (imo) Anyway, I don't see how Coma is any more repetitive than Rime, and that one is (rightfully) praised as hell. In fact, I'd argue Coma is more varied than Rime (though truthfully I haven't broken it down Fugitive-style).

It's blasphemous that it's the third most voted for song. It will not go down without a fight. :fencing: Edit: Aw, I wouldn't call Patience boring, though it's not a favorite of mine from the EP (One in a Million, Move to the City, and You're Crazy are far better imo).

Not TWAT getting eliminated before UTLH. There is literally a 79 spot difference between those two songs on my personal list. :p Anyway, that one +Patience (which is one of my least favorite live songs, though the studio's pretty great).

I agree that Pantera weren't the most varied band of all-time, but I wouldn't say they were nearly to the degree of AC/DC. I hear a lot more variation in The Great Southern Trendkill than I do in pretty much any AC/DC album.

Yeah, if I rated all the songs, it wouldn't look like such a great album. But I love its "feel." You can't listen to that album and not be suddenly happy. :p

Best Album Ever Survivor: Somewhere In Time wins

All the "new" albums ('90s-King Animal) sans Innuendo and Dirt. I guess I'm in the minority, but Innuendo is one of my favorites from the entire list.

Badmotorfinger, RATM, Ten, and Nevermind. :( I also quite like BS, but I agree that it's not all that consistent. RATM and Ten are my favorite albums from the respective artists. The Devil You Know is mediocre for a Dio album, but I still prefer it to many of these albums. If I didn't hear it...
