    Montsegur

Seems there was a mass discussion of the atrocities referenced in this song during the Crusades, not to mention other sins of Catholicism and Christianity's past. And yeah, the subject is worthy of a power rock angry rant, if one considers Montsegur leaning that way. All that aside, friends...

    Your Maiden blasphemy

Yes, sadly. I know a lot of people like the direction popular rock has headed, but I am frankly saddened by it. In the 60s and 70s rock could be fun and relaxed, while also having the ability to be controversial without the insecure need to be "angry" or "melancholic". In the 80s rock could be...

Hey, like I said, hard work pays off - congrats!

    Age of Innocence

I like this one. The intro has this sort of creepy ominous feel, but then the build up really pushes up the energy, like you're starting a run, or entering battle. Lots of variety in the riffs and percussion to keep this flowing too. 9/10.

    El Dorado

This is definitely one that grew on me after a half dozen listens or so. It's one of those songs - in my opinion - that has an "angry" and perhaps "threatening" feel to it, both in lyric and tune. And that's a good thing. When you are the type of person who wants their music to relate to...

    The Clansman

This one is awesome. It was written so well to fit the theme. There's slower parts, hinting at the emotional sides of clan wars and battles over land. Then there's parts that sound like a bloody war cry, and I can picture the clan army, painted faces, weapons held high, marching along the hills...

    Deja Vu

...feels like I've commented here before... Well, what can I say - it's catchy, which others have reported here already. It's got a good groove, something to bob your head to. Certainly not bad by any extent, while not epic either. Good song, 8/10.

Good luck to you, Perun! I remember those anxious, sleepless nights before a big exam. Your effort will pay off.

    Judgement of Heaven

I remember hearing this one for the first time, during my first playthrough of all studio albums, beginning to end. I had just parked in my driveway, and was getting out of my car when the bridge to the chorus started. Instead of walking into my apartment, I just stood there, thinking whoa...

    Como Estais Amigos

10/10 here. I love the solemn feel of the whole melody. It tends to put me in a clam mood when it comes on in my mix. The lyrics, while fairly simple, have some strong emotion as well.

    The Apparition

Well, I'm part of the minority of people who enjoy this song. Maybe I first listened to it at a time when I needed some encouragement and inspiration, and found the song did just that - even if it was done in a general and blunt sort of way. I'd agree that the lyrics aren't particularly well...

    Official Beer Thread

If asked what my favourite beer was, probably Guinness (Heck, named one of my cats after it). But I tend to save it for special occasions. Rickard's Red tends to be one of my go to beers, and my wife likes it too. Tennant's is pretty good, too. Also, I like to have Sapporo or Asahi when we're...

Selfie Drones.... couldn't there be a more practical use for this technology than just helping people indulge in their ego? Well, I suppose that's what sells...

    Cat vs Dog

Growing up, I only had a dog. Half of the family was allergic to cats, and the others who did have cats didn't care for them very well, and they ended up being nasty. I liked cats, but had a bad impression of them. Years later, being grown and married, we had no pets, until a fateful day when...

    Dance of Death

This is actually the first IM song I'd listened to beginning to end (before that I'd only heard bits from Piece of Mind in a friend's car). I was at work and, sick of hearing "new rock" on the radio day after day, I resorted to YouTube for something heavier. While listening to Ozzy's "No More...

    DRUNK POSTING

Well, what a superb topic for a thread! I'm on two fingers of Crown Royal right now myself; will have to come back later after I've had some more. EDIT: OK, mostly the way through me bottu of whiskey, litttle shnockered off of er. The wife just caught me singing along with Maidens cover of Kill...

    New posters! Who are you?

Thanks for the welcome, guys! Yeah, Brigantium, I've had a couple of giant listening sessions now; the latest being every studio album in order, with some bonus tracks. Roughly 17 hours of glorious metal. Luckily I'm allowed to have headphones on at work - sure makes the day better. Is there...

    New posters! Who are you?

Hey guys, first post here. Just signed up today. Relatively new Iron Maiden fan too, just started listening regularly about four months ago. Since then I've managed to get digital or physical copies of every album, and have been listening non-stop. There's hardly a song that isn't awesome...
