recommended newer albums for an old Maiden fan??

Unfortunately... If you don't enjoy the overall vibe of the BRAVE NEW WORLD album, then you'll probably have a difficult time enjoying any of the post-FEAR albums.

One of Bruce's rants has apparently stirred up a lot of hate (SPOILERS)

Ironically, he was enjoying the show so much that he was trying to purchase tickets online for the next night's show.

One of Bruce's rants has apparently stirred up a lot of hate (SPOILERS)

It's amazing how many "emergency situations" happen to regular people every single day... particularly after portable cellular telephonic devices became readily available and affordable to the general public. Before everybody had a cellphone, most people only had to deal with maybe one or two...

Why is Maiden not selling well in the US?

Speaking as an American myself, I can indubitably proclaim that the majority of Americans are imbeciles. (I can't give a proper educated assessment of other countries' citizens since I haven't lived anywhere else. Sorry.)

Anyone want Derek Riggs back to do the bands artwork?? whats up with dissin him??

I really enjoy the "Accident of Birth" imagery. I think it captures the cartoonish charm of vintage Maiden.

    Worst Iron Maiden Song

Insert "spit take" here It kinda has a generic Van Hagar vibe to it. (Not that that is always inherently bad)

Online Petition to get Paul Di'Anno and Bruce Dickinson together with Maiden for 2013

Maybe a one-time performance at a really big festival or something like that (and filmed for DVD release, of course)

    Worst Iron Maiden Song

THAT... and the catchy chorus... are actually the best things about this song! It reminds me of a time when Rock and Metal wasn't so damn uptight and restrictive. _________________________________________________________________ Regarding the original question of "Worst Iron Maiden" song --...

    Pilgrim edit request

Back in MY day ... We spliced tape or performed some sort of precise manual punch-in while bouncing tracks to another recorder ... AND WE LIKED IT !! :dead:

    The real problem with Virtual

Oddly enough, I dislike this album for almost all opposite reasons. 1. I enjoyed Blaze's style in the darker, depressing tone of X-Factor. On this material though, he & the band come across as pedestrian at best. 2/3. The album as a whole becomes tedious with its many repetitive vocal lines...

Worst Mistake in the History of the Human Race

When I first saw the title of this thread, I just assumed it was about VIRTUAL XI. :p Regardless of that, I wonder how the advent of the Internet/WiFi will ultimately alter the trajectory of the human race. There is something about it that seems ironically Orwellian to me. <_<

    Question about NO PRAYER album

This is one of the reasons why I kinda remain a stubborn old curmudgeon when it comes to music. I still insist on buying CDs and listening to albums. Hearing a bunch of random single songs is OK, but it ultimately feels disjointed and just doesn't connect with me on the same level.

    Most underated songs

The title for an all-medley tour (!) could use some pun like "The ABBEY ROAD TO HELL Tour" or something along those lines.

    Most underated songs

hmm... I don't think these tunes use compatible chords or time signatures, but other than that, I suppose it could work. :nana:

    Question about NO PRAYER album

Just to add to this "complexity" discussion... If a song like THE FUGITIVE does qualify as being "complex" with a variety of distinctive parts, then some of the material from the band's first (legitimately raw sounding and stripped-down, not contrived) album such as PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, or...

    Question about NO PRAYER album

Somewhat off-topic... but here is my consolidated album, aptly titled "The Fear Of No Dark Prayer For The Dying": 1. Fates Warning 2. Be Quick Or Be Dead 3. Wasting Love 4. Mother Russia 5. Public Enema Number One 6. No Prayer for the Dying 7. Run Silent Run Deep 8. Bring Your Daughter to...

    Question about NO PRAYER album

I recently read the "Run To The Hills" autobiography and it skips explaining any reasons for the sudden turnaround in Steve's approach. I suppose if Adrian was already showing disinterest in metal songwriting... and if Bruce was becoming a bit bored with the "expected" format of Maiden...

    Question about NO PRAYER album

I don't know if this topic has been brought up around here already... but I was wondering if anybody has ever read an interview with Steve Harris discussing exactly WHY he decided to strip down the band's sound for the NO PRAYER album. I've read that he really liked the SEVENTH SON album and...

    Progressive rock / metal

    Well... more a Maiden/ Queensryche/ Rush/ Floyd/ UK/ Journey/ Marillion/ ELP, etc. ripoff... but we get the idea. :p

    Progressive rock / metal

... If you haven't yet indulged... then you must try some classic Van Der Graaf Generator. Of course, as with most true "progressive" pieces of music, you can't simply judge the tune by only the first few minutes or so. ;) ...
