How can I get my friend into Iron Maiden?

While you and your buddies are playing video games on the Commodore-64, just spin Maiden records in the background. That's how I would get my friends to sit through all the albums that I liked.

Contest: Mom's Maiden Mixtape (nice prize included)

:smartarse: I realize that the contest is over ... but here is a "setlist" that would probably work best at successfully indoctrinating a woman in her 50s (assuming there is a legitimate chance for success) ... :applause: The Trooper The Prisoner Flight of Icarus Run to the Hills 2...

Contest: Mom's Maiden Mixtape (nice prize included)

:innocent: If you truly want this experiment to be a genuine "success"... 1. Limit the total running time to 50 minutes. Assuming that your mother grew up in any decade before the 90s... she'll most likely burn out on one band after 50 consecutive minutes of primarily unfamiliar...

    Worst Iron Maiden Song

I don't understand why "Call Me Maybe" is such a popular phenomenon. To me, the chorus sounds like it would be a great pre-chorus... but then it leads to no payoff. The bridge in the middle of the song possibly could've been structured to act as a chorus. Then again, I never understood the...

Best CD versions of Iron Maiden albums.

It would've been nice if they found somebody to "properly" remaster all the albums a few years ago when CDs were still profitable items. If I knew that new CD versions would definitely have the best possible sound, then I would buy them and replace the 90s remasters that I have. Oddly...

Di'Anno & Bayley to perform only Maiden songs

hmm... I'm fairly certain that I once (or twice) heard Paul complain about how much he dislikes performing Maiden tunes. Well, I suppose there ARE bills to be paid after all. ______________________________________________________________ http://www.hardlinemedia.net/ Hardline...

Eddie is perched on a fence post

I have no point. :p I'm just trying to analytically figure out how all the opinions around here about this one band's output can vary so widely. :smartarse: I've decided that, for each individual song, it all comes down to the listener's predisposition towards the influential genres...

Eddie is perched on a fence post

Hmm... Maiden seems to sit on a metaphorical fence post that intersects four yards: (1) Classic Hard Rock, (2) Melodic Metal, (3) Vocal Pop, and (4) Symphonic Prog. When a particular song leans more towards one or two particular yards, then the listener will appreciate the song...

Iron Maiden's worst song (AKA the Head to Head results thread)

I actually find the extreme subjectivity on these forums to be rather bizarre. We all love the same band... yet we almost never seem to concur on specific opinions about the band's output. Meanwhile, the band rarely deviates very far from their own handful of formulas... so how is it...

Iron Maiden's worst song (AKA the Head to Head results thread)

The rankings from #110 down to around #25 or so will probably appear to be almost a complete crapshoot. I can't imagine that any one person's taste will agree with a majority of the overall order in this segment of the list.

Iron Maiden's worst song (AKA the Head to Head results thread)

Wow... I am surprised that this one is buried so low. For me, this song really captures the classic Maiden vibe in the reunion era. If you take away the thick Kevin Shirley production, the song itself would sit comfortably on either of the Piece of Mind or Powerslave albums.

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark to be Re-released in IMAX

Here in America, I remember seeing a movie with a very similar title when I was a kid. It was simply called "Raiders of the Lost Ark". I think it was shown in movie theaters the same year as "The Road Warrior"... just a few years after "Star Wars". <_<

    History Of Iron Maiden Magazine

I suggest that you frequently check eBay. Check out this link with a site-wide search for "Metal Hammer" Maiden... http://www.ebay.com/dsc/i.html?_sop=1&LH_TitleDesc=1&_sacat=0&_nkw=maiden "metal hammer"&_ipg=200&rt=nc I realize that THIS magazine is NOT the one that you're looking for...

Anyone want Derek Riggs back to do the bands artwork?? whats up with dissin him??

This was definitely the case in America. The band had practically zero radio exposure... so initial awareness for most people was based almost entirely on the satanism spin, followed by the label's marketing push to prominently display cover artwork in all the record shops.

    The Talisman

It would've been interesting if this song opened the album. In that context, it has a very "Caught Somewhere In Time" overall vibe (after the acoustic intro, of course).

    Futureal

This is one song from VIRTUAL XI that I actually enjoy. I wish that they would've re-recorded it with Bruce in 2012 ... particularly to get it included in the film soundtrack for the (soon-to-be-released) TOTAL RECALL remake. Whenever I see promos for the movie, the tagline is "What is...

Virtual XI - A one song album

Thankfully, VIRTUAL XI was not my first Maiden album. If it were, I probably would have stopped right there-- and never would've heard everything else. Needless to say, this is my least favorite Maiden album... by a very large margin.

    When Two Worlds Collide

This composition would work better if it was maybe a minute shorter... and performed as a collaboration with ASIA. I'm not kidding. JOHN WETTON on vocals and CARL PALMER on drums would absolutely make the song so much better. Believe it or not, the overall style is very ASIA already. :dancinggeek:

    Steve Harris

This could be interesting ... depending on the quality of the vocals, of course. The one thing that kinda disappoints me, though, is Kevin Shirley "at the mixing helm". He seemingly goes out of his way to give most of his albums a more organic, live, thick-bottom sound... which (apparently)...
