I wasn't expecting it. They haven't toured Europe two years in a row on the same tour since 2016/17, and that was kind of a special case since they were making up for lost time. However there seems to be an expectation/understanding that they will return already next year.

I doubt it. It took them a long time to sell out the second show this year. But in total they have sold over 200k tickets in Germany for this tour.
