We all love Nicko here. And precisely because of that, there is no reason to subject him to something he can no longer do: play at his usual level. The stroke unfortunately cut his career short, and if the band decided to move on without him, then let it be done in full: with Simon as the new...
I know it serves its purpose, with the bass solo and everything, giving a good atmosphere for Big Eddie. But I simply don't find the song funny anymore. It's certainly the most boring classic for me. In fact, the only really boring one, since I like all the others.
The first one, with No Prayer early in the set and Running Free opening the encore would be great and more likely than the second, imo, 'cos the last 6 songs (encore included) are clearly aimed to the casual fans, being a sequence of classics (my wife, which is a casual, liked specially the last...
Only now, a week later, am I here reacting to the new show. I've been traveling and very busy this past week, but I managed to read almost all the instant reactions to the setlist as it was being revealed (I went page by page, to simulate the anticipation for each new song).
And what can I say...
It's still my bet for the opening too. The tour is more and more screaming Killers and the early days. Prowler, Wrathchild and Phantom are the others likely ones to be the opener. Let's see what we get tomorrow
I'm also Brazilian and I have the same perception as you about Maiden's shows here. Tour after tour the audience seems to be getting more and more inactive and less interested, which is frustrating. But, yes, your observation is as sad as it is true. We're all getting too old...
But, in our...
Don't you think the normal chronological order makes more sense than a reverse one? Imagine that the first songs can be something like Prowler, Murders, Running Free, Phantom Of The Opera, Wrathchild and Killers (leaving just Iron Maiden out of order, 'cos we know it will close the main set) and...
Thinking about the setlist and the stage set, the chronological sequence could match Eddie's evolution on the album covers from the debut to FOTD, being something really innovative, like a different Eddie prop in the background (or some walking Eddies or even animations in the screens) for every...
This is a great bet, but I don't believe they will play both Die With Your Boots On and Still Life. And I still think they will play Stranger and Bring Your Daughter, to have at least one song from each of the 9 first albums, as was said in the tour announcement.
The repetitive chorus is the weakest part of all the entire album, imo. Just because of it, it's a 7/10 for me. Even so, it's a very good track, with great melodies, beautiful guitar solos and bass lines, in addition of interesting lyrics.
