How will Simon Dawson change the look and sound of Maiden?

How will Simon Dawson change the look and sound of Maiden?

So maybe somewhat more similar to Clive for the first three albums? I'd hate to have a Tommy Thayer situation seeing Iron Maiden this summer. One of my friends whom I'm attending the Stockholm gig with said he'd prefer "if they put Simon backstage next to Brent Diamond".

    Future past…..live album

Here's an advice from someone who loved the setlist, the show and Blaze Bayley during The X Factour: don't listen back to the bootlegs, I completely destroyed the memory buy doing so.

    Back in 1993

I love the story on how White found out he was going to audition for Maiden: White had sent his tape in to Maiden’s management in the spring of 1993. Then, one Friday night several months later, as he was preparing to go to Scotland, he had a knock on his door in London. He opened to find...

    Nicko McBrain retires

I was hoping he would fly in for the London date. Seems fitting that we would play a song or two during their biggest London show ever.

How will Simon Dawson change the look and sound of Maiden?

I was thinking about this the other night. The change from Clive to Nicko had quite an impact on the sound. On Rock in Rio, the live renditions of tracks from Iron Maiden (Iron Maiden, Sanctuary), Killers (Wrathchild), and The Number of the Beast (The Number of the Beast, Hallowed Be Thy Name...

    Ullevi 2005: the overlooked masterpiece?

For other potential live albums from the Early Days tour: The 2005 re-release of The Trooper featured some live recordings from the Early Days Tour. Another Life and Murders In The Rue Morge (Vinyl) / Prowler (CD-single) all from Reykjavik, Iceland were used as b-sides.

    Ullevi 2005: the overlooked masterpiece?

I think they used live versions recorded in Copenhagen 2006 of Iron Maiden, Benjamin Breeg, Different World and Fear of the Dark for the Different World single. Edit: here you go. 3 from Copenhagen, 1 from Aalborg.

    Future past…..live album

I'm sure the Maiden camp will review your posts on this forum and take your opinion into account when adjusting the track listing for the future live album!!!

    Future past…..live album

To be fair this is the biggest heavy metal band in the world. Blaze Bayley out of key or Nicko out of shape is not going to work on a live album.

    Future past…..live album

Would have been much better if Run for Your Lives was the 2023-2024 tour saying goodbye to Nicko, while 2025-2026 was 40th anniversary Future Past tour celebrating Somewhere in Time with Simon. I was beyond excited for a SiT themed live album, but the performance quality for the band in total is...

    Ullevi 2005: the overlooked masterpiece?

"Despite the legendary status of the concert, it seems to have been overlooked in favor of other live recordings." - obviously overlooked in the sense of official releases. Must have been a great conversation over at the Maiden camp: "Oh wow this seems really popular among the fans. Let them...

    Ullevi 2005: the overlooked masterpiece?

For some context, there are a few tours from the 2000s that don't have corresponding live albums, the Early Days tour in 2005 and A Matter of Life and Death tour in 2006. For many, the former is considered one of the greatest tours in Iron Maiden's history. The setlist is absolutely unreal, and...

Simon Dawson is the new drummer

If you prefer hearing the songs as they were originally recorded, then you must dislike Nicko playing Clive’s parts.

Simon Dawson is the new drummer

Nicko didn't play the songs like Clive and maybe they are looking for someone who isn't an exact Nicko copy playing wise.
