But during the last album tour Eddie appeared on Book of souls (the song), which in my opinion consists of 5 minutes of nothing happening....before anything happens at all
I did not look too much into it so please feel free to bash me.
1) Didn't Maiden already play in most of the places that this new LOTB tour leg is visiting? Bruce said that they have to do the gigs as people already paid for the Legacy show before the pandemic, yet they change the playlist, not...
Well, Nico is 70. They still got to do the Senjutsu gigs. More or less the next couple of years are set. I guess Bruce is also going out with his new album, right? Dave accordingto the reports is no longer so keen on long tours. I see a future of less gigs. Each one might as well be a real event...
I never really understood why they stopped the History series. Would they release the next parts after they retire or something? Cause I do not see live shows happening for much longer.
Come on mate, let's not go through all that again please. Kevin is a well established producer, I just happen to feel that his collabotrations with Steve are not that good. I do not think they manage to do what they aim for. Simple as that. It might as well be that any producer working with...
Not exactly on point but the latest albums seem to be played live with less precision and less guitar layers although they got the 3 guitars. E.g IESF has a lot of textruring in the studio but it is waaaay too slow. The live version is 43 sec faster but half of the guitar phrasing is missing. So...
I just feel that apart from DOD all the albums (for the most part) needed a few more takes, or even better some better crafted / faster renditions.
Maiden always played their songs faster live but it is getting comedic that the live feel in the albums transaltes to way too slow songs that only...
Steve has been riding the live sound quest wave since day one. It was Kevin who suggested that they all play together to cut the "bed" of the songs. That my friend was his introduction to the muddy sound and the lifeless takes :)
He could at least get a groove regardless of the sound. all the albums they did with him benefit from a 5-8% speeding up. This was never the case with Martin. Simple as that.
I do agree with you for the most part. Maiden are still alive and doing well worldwide. I however do not think that the albums they did created any real buzz. Indeed the reunion has a greated impact that the sum of its' parts...and this is due to their amazing back catalog of classic material...
There are a lot of guitar layers in the studio version of WOTW, It kind of pisses me off seeing Dave so underused. Just smiling and holding single chords.
I think that best version of the song was during the 99 tour. Last time I heard such a full sound at a Maiden show. The Wickerbland single had some live song versions from that tour. Then BNW tour was as if the 3 guitars became thin ovenight.
