The power won't be a problem in the studio. That's what extra compression is for, and a bit of sample replacement/reinforcement. Ian Paice doesn't drum with a lot of power these days, and haven't for many years, and it works fine.

Geoff Tate regularly has three guitarists in his live band playing QR songs. Queensryche were a dual guitar band.

He is a much better, productive and consistent songwriter than Dave though. No, Maiden don’t need three guitarists, but having three guitarists enables more options both live and in the studio. Besides, his style contrasts Dave and H well - aggressive and chaotic.

I take it you a) haven't seen him with his solo band or b) suffer from memory loss from his solo gigs or c) have a warped sense of reality. :innocent: :D
