Come on, that was 24 years ago! How can you rely on such an old example to make a judgment? He has certainly written some mediocre/average or even bad songs, but he has penned so many masterpieces.
Ides of March : 8
Wrathchild : 8
Murders in the Rue Morgue : 8
Another Life : 9
Genghis Khan : 10 (their best instrumental)
Innocent Exile : 4
Killers : 9
Prodigal Son : 10
Purgatory : 10
Drifter : 8
I'm not a big fans of notations. Does it make sense to give the same note to Prodigal Son and...
It's rather a mistake :). Some of the songs may sound generic to your ear because this album has been so influencial and has been used as a landmark by many bands afterwards. Killers is a masterpiece.
I think it was quite a strange song for Adrian and I like it a lot, way more than the simplistic Fladh of the Blade or the generic Two Minutes to Midnight.
Maybe my age is beginning to take its toll and I can't make the difference, but I'm really wondering if some of you aren't a bit influenced a bit too much my modern sounding production (Sabaton to make a name). Senjutsu is more than decent. Maiden don't want to spend too much time in the studio...
As far as I know, splitting the pit in two parts is the genral rule. You really need to go there early to get that bracelet. Then, be patient, and you will be able to slowly progress to the stage, taking advantage of those who go and buy a beer or go to the toilets. That's my tactics at Maiden gigs.
During BL gig the day before he he repeatedly gave advices/instructions to his bandmates. It looks as if he is not yet fully satisfied with how things are going.
I was so pleased to meet Doug Samson. The guy is charming. Their bassplayer is quite a character, but their singer stole the show. What a showman and what a voice. And after that, he spent the British Lion gig in the pit singing and headbanging. You've got to love those bands. Airbourne, on the...
I'm not a big fan of live albums, but Thin Lizzy's Live and Dangerous is fantastic, and I will never get tired of Motörhead's No Sleep 'till Hammersmith and Scorpions' Tokyo Tapes.
That reminds me of articles about football transfers in the italian press: no substance. They could not skip all the festivals, so they cannnot play only their last album to a casual audience, so they must choose, so they must add other songs among which Alexander because they said they want to...
Dave was fantastic yesterday, all his solos were amazing, while Adrian's were not fluid at all. Bruce butchered two songs, The Number of the Beast and Ace's High.
I agree the venue is way too large, and I really hope to see them in a more "intimate" setting for the album tour.
In retrospective, it's nice to have such an album in their discography: it brings diversity and shows thats, no matter how big they were then, they had not lost all spontaneity. They (Steve at least) felt the urge to release a more direct album after not playing for a year. At the time, I would...
"self plagiarism" is very strange concept. A composer is perfectly entitled to reuse his own ideas in another context if he thinks it works. It's not only bad memory or laziness. I really wouldn't mind Harris writing a song entirely based on former ideas, as long as the dynamics works. How many...
