Agreed, though at the same time I cringe whenever I see someone with the yellow/orange foam ones. Ew. What are you doing.

    The Israel-Palestine Conflict

I agree with this. But I think the only way for it to be acceptably broken is for the country with the whip hand to accept they are causing the uprisings through repression and to work with the Palestinians as equals. That probably involves some level of acceptance of minor violence, and likely...

    The Israel-Palestine Conflict

But why does Hamas wish to commit terrorist acts against Israel? To me, that is the question that one must answer. Hamas will just be replaced by Hamas 2 even if it is destroyed entirely today, because the underlying conditions that created Hamas remain (indeed, have been vastly exacerbated).

    The Israel-Palestine Conflict

Well, I don't necessarily think the root cause is Hamas. The root cause is the consistent ghettoization of the Palestinian people by the Israeli state, going all the way back to the Nakba of 1948, which is what caused Palestinians to turn to terrorism, and the continued violation of the...

    UK Politics

The issue is that Reform and the Tories are going to split more of that vote. So I think that there is an opening here for another left wing party, be it the Lib Dems or someone else, to try to make balance of power. I'm no expert on UK politics but I will say that the rise of Reform very much...

I've heard Maiden outside and inside and I will say when they are inside a quality pair of earplugs has made all the difference for hearing them well in an arena.

    The Israel-Palestine Conflict

One of the primary requirements of peacekeeping is an invitation from actors in place. In other words, UN peacekeeping cannot occur without an invite from Israel. It seems highly unlikely that will happen. At this stage, they have worked so very hard to get rid of journalists, to get rid of any...

    The Israel-Palestine Conflict

To me, the horrific action is now that of Israel, which has used the excuse of Hamas's attack to attempt the destruction of the Palestinian people. I agree that this won't change their fate, which now seems like they will be starved to death en masse.

    UK Politics

If I were trying to run a party like this in a FPTP system, I would run it only in specific areas where they can play spoiler, but promise to join any Labour government. The goal should be to push Labour into a situation where they need a coalition partner. In Canada, we have the Bloc Quebecois...

Maidenfans Best Album of The Millennium: 2002 FINAL ROUND

The way I feel about Paradise Lost and evenmoreso Underworld is that I rarely feel like I slow down while listening to it, but I barely remember much after.

theoretically, you're supposed to get the $250 back but no mechanism for returning funds has been created, so... It's a shame, Vegas is a ton of fun. I'd go again if it wasn't for the whole "the American president is an enemy of the free world" thing.

Maidenfans Best Album of The Millennium: 2002 FINAL ROUND

I basically agree with all of that re: Paradise Lost and Underworld, which are really consistent and enjoyable albums, but nothing that gets close to The Odyssey itself on it.

Finally got around to listening to the Bloodbath album and boy did I really like that one. Just gonna take a moment here to shout out @Magnus and @Night Prowler for helping me to appreciate more extreme vocals a little more than I once did. Definitely a lot to like here.

    Ozzy Osbourne (1948-2025)

His voice is, for so many, the sound of heavy metal. How many times has War Pigs, Paranoid, Crazy Train, or Iron Man shown up in culture? If he and Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler and Bill Ward had never met, would we even be here, talking? So long, Ozzy. Thanks. Thanks for everything.

Here we go around in circles again. It's okay to be disappointed if a gig wasn't up to one's expectations, but we do not need to relitigate Aces High constantly. Nobody's mind is going to be changed, least of all anyone involved with Iron Maiden. I am reserving judgement but I am certainly not...

What's your favourite post reunion album and why? #2

I never liked the music much. Too happy, very similar to how I feel about the music in Gates of Tomorrow. There's some rough stuff in there.
