The J.R.R. Tolkien Topic (publications and adaptations)

A friend of mine haves the DVDSCR (the one they send to the Academy critics for the Oscar's voting) and he passed it to me... Totally awesome scenes, but still I'll buy the extended blu-ray... the quality is like this:

    NOW WATCHING

I also saw it yesterday, and though I found the movie good, it is not as good as Inglorious basterds or Pulp Fiction for several reasons... Jamie Foxx acting was horrible, totally grey and didn't have enough force or strength until the end of the movie... Now Christopher Waltz totally rocked...

Well, they actually explained all of those points, maybe you dont remember. About the battle, they made it different from what it was in the books but in the movies it worked like this: The dwarves got expelled from The Lonely Mountain, so the king Thror, Thorin's grandfather, thought it would...

The J.R.R. Tolkien Topic (publications and adaptations)

Well yes it's depressing but that doesn't make it a bad story... I think that as a movie it would work... Or the tale of Tuor and the fall of Gondolin. EDIT: Forostar, I was reading the Unfinished tales and saw a map of Númenor... Is your forum name based in that region of Númenor, the Forostar?

The J.R.R. Tolkien Topic (publications and adaptations)

Just bought The Unfinished Tales, and I believe that the right way of reading the books is : The Hobbit, LOTR, Silmarillion, the rest. Maybe The Children of Húrin before the Silmarillion, since it already is in the Silmarillion but in a smaller and compressed version.

The J.R.R. Tolkien Topic (publications and adaptations)

Mmmmh I think that if you put together LOTR, the Hobbit, the Silmarillion, the Unfinished Tales, the Children of Húrin and the History of Middle-Earth books, you get waaaaaay more pages than the Bible...

    NOW READING

  13. Sebas-hero1995

The J.R.R. Tolkien Topic (publications and adaptations)

I watched it the first 2 times in 2D, then I watched it in 3D 48 frames. I liked the 48 frames, it looked as a huge blu-ray but in a good way

The J.R.R. Tolkien Topic (publications and adaptations)

Well... For the ones that have seen the film, I was beginning worrying about the lack of internet jokes of the movie, but I found some And check this, at 2:12 we finally get a Gandalf the Grey theme, that was missing in FOTR
