    Hallowed Be Thy Name

This is THE Heavy Metal song and no one can tell me the opposite. What an accomplishment for Harris, a 25-year-old at that moment. I was lucky that I was introduced to Iron Maiden with this song. I fell in love immediately with those fantastic riffs and Bruce's storytelling. As the time passed...

    Total Eclipse

Very powerful song, way better than Gangland. I like the main riff at the beginning, but this is where Bruce sounds bad. On the other hand, Bruce sounds so powerful at the very end with "Gone are the days..." part. The highlight: 3:00 - What a way to introduce one of the best moments in Bruce's...

    Run to the Hills

When I hear this song, I don't really get that excited. The first couple of verses are a little bit annoying. There are some good parts, though. I like Clive's drumming in the introduction and the galloping rhythm of the song ( I find it really appropriate for the song's topic). Due to its...

    The Number of the Beast

I believe this might be the most energetic Iron Maiden song, especially the album version. A lot of things are going on in this song, yet the song as a whole feels so tight and appropriately organized. Though, there are a couple of songs on this album that are better than TNOTB. This just shows...

    22, Acacia Avenue

This is a fantastic piece of music and the second best song on this album. I love the atmosphere, I love Bruce's voice, I love the riffs and I love the solos. I see this song as a place where Dave continued his series of powerful and emotional solos that he started with Strange World and...

    The Prisoner

This is in my opinion a solid song. In fact, I would have considered it pretty ordinary if it didn't have that amazing instrumental section and energetic Clive Burr on drums. The highlight: Fantastic instrumental section at 3:43 8/10

    Children of the Damned

I really like this song. Bruce delivers some beautiful and emotional singing and the whole band is really tight. I love how the solo fits the song - it is maybe one of the best Maiden solos in that regard. There is nothing really wrong about this song, but it doesn't evoke the same feelings for...

    Invaders

Solid opener - I am not annoyed at all by the chorus. I like the topic of the song and the energy is brilliant. Obviously, this one is not even close to the best Maiden songs. The highlight: Energy throughout the whole song 6/10

Tournament of Maiden Solos: the Top 10 video!

Breeg is by far the best solo of this group and I see it as one of the contenders for the title. Since the gap is too huge, I only voted for that one. Masterful work by Dave :okok:

    Prodigal Son

Prodigal Son is a rather average song which is lifted to a much higher level by incredible solos. In my opinion, Dave Murray has in every album since Iron Maiden until Powerslave performed one brilliant, particularly beautiful and emotional solo. The self-titled album had "Strange World" and...

    Killers

Fantastic song, the second best one from Di'Anno era. I love everything about this song - a fantastic intro, the energy, the lyrics and the instrumental parts. Unfortunately, this is not a masterpiece, but it receives the highest mark it can get without being 10/10. The highlight: Dave Murray...

Tournament of Maiden Solos: the Top 10 video!

    Killers and The Unbeliever.

Tournament of Maiden Solos: the Top 10 video!

Thanks. :okok: Dave did an amazing job here with this one. I listened to Janick's solo in The Unbeliever and I must say I prefer this solo to Janick's. I simply hear so much emotion, rivaled only by his first Powerslave solo.

Tournament of Maiden Solos: the Top 10 video!

The Unbeliever and Where Eagles Dare. What a solo in The Unbeliever! :bigsurprise: Is this Janick or Dave? If this is Janick it is in my opinion the best solo of his career.

    Strange World

Hmm, after your comment I watched a live version of this song and a lot of people are saying that the first solo there is done by Adrian (which means that Dennis did it in the original version). Also, the second solo is unmistakably Dave.

    Iron Maiden

An average song - sometimes I can't stand it but sometimes it works really well. I don't like repetition and better lyrics could have added a lot to this song. I feel that a song with a topic like this would work much better on some of their later albums - especially Powerslave and Somewhere...

    Charlotte the Harlot

Very forgettable. Absolutely the worst song on this album. Highlights: No highlights. 3/10

    Strange World

Another song I never really paid attention to. It feels really weird to listen to Paul singing like this. I also don't like the softness of this song. However, amazing solos raise my grade to 6/10. In every Iron Maiden album up to Powerslave Dave delivers one beautiful emotional solo. This...

    Transylvania

Catchy and energetic, especially the second part. I think the main riff is really easy to remember here. However, as LC said, this song doesn't really make me think of Transylvania. I will rank it equally to Prowler. The highlight: The very beginning of this song - it promises an energetic...

    Phantom of the Opera

What a giant this song is! Honestly, I can't believe Iron Maiden released this behemoth on their debut album. Magnificent songwriting and delivery from all the band members. As others have pointed out, 7 minutes just fly by, like nothing. I just love everything about this song, even the...
