Which is your preferred Maiden era: 1980-1993 vs. 1995-present

I voted era 1. It's not even a question for me. And I don't just count albums, I also count image, attitude and audience. The albums of the first era were so much better than everything post XF (with the exception of Killers). The shows were also different. Much less gimmicky, much more...

Brave New World: individual album judgement by yours truly

And another revisit of the album which I usually consider their best of the reunion era. First thing to recorgnize is the MUCH improved production. So relieving to see that Steve accepted the truth that he just is not a skilled producer and stepped down! Cudos! Many egomaniacs in the business...

Virtual XI: individual album judgement by yours truly

I recently revisited the album. My main problem with it will always be the production, which is inacceptable, especially for a band of Maiden's level, experience and budget. VXI is demo level. The drums sound great, but everything else is terrible. The guitars have almost no overdrive, they are...

What are the top 5 worst Maiden songs?

I know what you mean, even though I think even if the entire solo section is good, it's still just a good section. The song as such is still not good. Agree that solo sections in Maiden are ALWAYS good from a technical point of view (performance, prowess). Musically, they are not always good...

What are the top 5 worst Maiden songs?

No, we do not all agree here, I'm afraid.. There are definitely Maiden songs that don't kick ass at all. Honestly, if the guitar solo is the only good thing in a song, it's not a good song! It's a good solo, nothing else. I find it hard to believe that among 120 songs or more, people do...

Poll: The strongest 90s Maiden album

2 of these albums are in my personal Maiden top five: X-Factor and FOTD! Of those two, FOTD slightly wins, because the production is better and Bruce IS the better vocalist (although I like Blaze a lot). So FOTD is their best 90s album. VXI is their weakest 90s output, but not their weakest...

Fear Of The Dark Vs. The Book Of Souls

It would sound very out of place. Totally different feel.

rate all 17 Maiden albums best to worst

Of all the lists, this is the most interesting. While I disagree on many points, I find it refreshing that this list strays off far with the usual fan-faves, which I sometimes feel are almost canon or laws. Placing VXI atop is certainly interesting, as it means TAATG and DLTTEOAS must be...

    Metal with female vocals

Needed to resurrect this decade old thread, especially since it is dominated by terrible mainstream cheese such as Nightwish, Lacuna Coil and German Schlager Queen Doro. I would strongly recommend the following bands, all fronted by awesome female vocalists: Thorr's Hammer Burning Witches...

    Death Metal

Scrolls of the Megilloth is definitely their best album, and 25 years ago, I listened to it a lot. Unfortunately Mortification is a one-off for me, because they are no Death Metal band. They turned into Thrash and even Power Metal later. They never had their own Style. It's basically Steve...

    Primal Fear

It's okay if Primal Fear use AI artworks. Their music always sounded AI generated too, so it fits. I know of course they never used AI for writing, but it was extremely meat and potatoes Metal on the first 5 albums. Never heard any newer stuff. Some people have problems with Scheepers voice. I...

What do you think of the rock/metal 1990's? Really such a bad & boring decade?

Nowadays Queensryche may be a little lower in popularity than DT, but in total Queensryche outsold DT by far. Empire alone sold more than the first 3 DT albums combined. Sales don't define quality, but since you argue popularity they are a valid factor, and Queensryche definitely were the most...

AC/DC in general, not so much of a certain song.

rate all 17 Maiden albums best to worst

The strength of AMOLAD is consistence. Most Maiden albums have both strong highlights and poor lowpoints. AMOLAD does not, it has pretty much the same level throughout the entire album. Very hard to pick most/least favourite from that album. I consider that a plus that FOTD does not have...

rate all 17 Maiden albums best to worst

Be Quick, Strangers, Wasting Love, Fugitive, Childhood, Judas, Fear. Weekend Warrior is also good and underrated. FHTE is weird for Maiden, and a rip off, but still a good song. Admittedly, the rest of the songs is very bad.

What are the top 5 worst Maiden songs?

While I would not consider those their worst of all time, I agree they are remarkably poor songs.

Brave New World Vs. Piece Of Mind

While I consider BNW the best reunion era album, it is not among my top album picks, while POM is.

Poll: The weakest 80's Maiden album?

It is indeed a great, raw guitar tone. I mean, it is METAL, not rock or prog, so it needs some edge. As for the poll, I voted Killers (only 2 real smashers, more fillers than the others), but if we talked Dickinson-80s only, it would be TNOTB.

rate all 17 Maiden albums best to worst

It does have fillers, no question. But not more than any other Maiden album that came after it, and it has at least 6 absolute bangers. A much higher ratio than all post reunion albums.
