I have friends from middle school that still follow the band...maybe not as deeply as me, but yeah. Middle school for me was 1980 . A couple of guys are now parents and we're planning to see RFYL with their kids. So yeah, I have a wide view of the band and their history.
My, what an entitled spoiled bunch we can be sometimes.
I'm watching a proper head-on view of Budapest opening night, not the real-time livecast from Tuesday and I'm astonished at how great the band sounds and how well the video backdrop works along with the integrated lighting system. It's a...
From what I observed, Janick is playing a lot and not goofing around as much so he's not as free to bound around. During one song (can't recall which) he stood at the foot of the drum riser and was working out something with Simon; not going to speculate on what but it's a thing musicians would...
I have a feeling that physical props and inflatables didn't look good against the high def screen. Instead of blending together to create a seamless illusion, they probably clashed and broke it.
There is something to what you're saying here. I've known performing musicians who've told me similar; they choose some tracks that they can kind of coast on during a long set. Gotta have balance, especially when they're not as young or adventurous as they used to be.
People disappointed in the song choices should consider that the band performs the tracks that they enjoy, first and foremost, and arranges them in a sequence that works best for them. Although the audience is absolutely an important consideration, they'll never be able to please everyone. So...
Quick personal opinions/reactions:
- Well, THAT was fun. But then again Maiden's my favorite band so I'm generally easy to please.
- Bruce lied but that's OK, I still love him.
- I think the video backdrop will be more impressive in person in terms of depth and environment. HBTN was utterly...
Nah. Drummers like Nicko, Neil Peart and Mike Portnoy are masters of their craft and get into every tom, cymbal, bell and whistle they can cram into their kits. And they use them all and can hear differences between one cymbal and another that the audience can't appreciate. But you don't NEED...
"Powerslave" sounded amazing. I'm a guitar player, not a drummer...but sounds to me like Simon is growing more comfortable as the set goes on and he opened up a bit on that song. He's not just playing the songs, he's beginning to drive the band more. He was absolutely the proper choice. No...
This is incredible. The stage backdrop works very well...and Simon is great so far.
I'm kinda glad in a way that it's not a crystal clear stream because it gives me something to look forward to. It's enough to me to a) hear the setlist, b) hear Simon perform with the band, c) hear that they...
On Instagram, the Iron Maiden Brasil guys are inside the arena at the front. Everything is well-covered so nothing to see of Maiden's stage, Simon's kit, etc.
