Different World: 4.5 - we left IM in 2003 with a teenage chorus; we reunite with them in 2006 with another teenage chorus; the song is representative of the album in that it uses the same riff as half of the rest of it
These Colours Don't Run: 7 - love the riff and the hymn-sounding chorus; the...
Another album I re-listened to this summer.
Wildest Dreams: 5 - a step back compared to The Wicker Man; it's shorter and less repetitive (chorus I'm staring at you) but it doesn't really stand out; the Death on the Road version is way better
Rainmaker: 8 - NOW WE'RE TALKING; Dave's first single...
Re-listened this summer:
Aces High: 9 - another great opener by Harris, and the best Dave/Adrian duet; HUGE track
2 Minutes to Midnight: 9 - the riff that became a classic opens the album's first single; way more elaborate track than the other single (Aces High precisely), great solo by Mr...
...before the encore.
Because there is no way in hell the possibly last Iron Maiden concert is going to end with anything different than "Iron Maiden's gonna catch you, and you, and you, aaaand you, Iron Maiden is gonna catch all of ya".
Re-listened this summer:
Where Eagles Dare: 9+ - this is the HUGE opener The Number of the Beast lacked; but Steve's proverbial logorrhea makes the verses very hard to grasp sometimes; Dave's solo shows his refined melodic taste, Bruce's final high note is still echoing all around the...
Re-listened this summer:
The Ides of March: 6/7 - IM's only instrumental intro has a solemn sound that frankly has little to do with the rest of the album
Wrathchild: 8.5 - despite its pretty linear structure, there is a very good reason it became a classic; this was freshly dark and new...
Not a fan of NPFTD at all (my honest opinion is that they should've done only one album with NPFTD's and FOTD's top 9 or 10 songs) but the intro solo to Fates Warning is my favorite solo Dave has ever played.
There's something epically sad and wasted in that solo.
I struggle to see how a new song would be a surprise of any kind. They've been making songs for 50 years.
Dave Murray-only songs setlist in 2026 to celebrate his 70th birthday and the 50th anniversary of him joining Iron Maiden.
Unless you also post on the Gretsch forum, chances are it was him:

By the way, I just saw this on Twitter:
And is it me or that's a Fender?
Great jam using Dave's Seymour Duncan scratchplate by Dave Simpson, shows well its versatility. Followed by a discussion in strong Lincolnshire accent:
Quick re-up to say that I hadn't listened to the official single in... a decade, probably, hence completely forgetting how damn FAST the Helsinki version was. Jesus Christ.
