Much more interesting round than the last one...
Annihilator shows a Maiden-esque influence, with good production, and Ric Flair on vocals is a nice touch. Lyrics/vocals are kind of silly, but still, this is much more my speed than Gojira.
I have never heard of Threshold. The chosen track has...
This led me to an epiphany: is inbreeding the reason why some people like death-growl vocals? I doubt it. But it might explain the otherwise inexplicable.
Is that album in the game? If not, bad on me/us. It’s awesome. Turn Me On, Head Over Heels, Winterdreams, title track, Love Child, Losing More Than You Ever Had, the unfortunately titled London Leatherboys... so many good tracks. Get with the program, @Jer ! :smartarse:
In the current...
Powerwolf is fun, but Amorphis just seems to be a cut above.
God help me, but I may actually vote for Babymetal. Counterparts isn’t my favorite Rush album and Babymetal seems...interesting. Not sure if it’s utterly stupid or completely brilliant. The last time I had a similar thought, it...
In the 1992 Olympics, Charles Barkley of the Dream Team famously said of their next opponent: “I don’t know anything about Angola, but Angola’s in trouble.” To borrow from Chuck, I don’t know anything about Rosetta, but Rosetta’s in trouble.

I respectfully disagree—not that later albums follow this blueprint, they often do, but that “For Those” does too. Evil Walks and Night of the Long Knives are standouts.
I gotta vote for Devin just for the sheer absurdity of the album title and cover. And when your “sheer absurdity” quotient is higher than a guy who wears a fried chicken container on his head, that’s sayin’ something.
Also, Power Trip still rulz.
I think the most likely artists to upset Maiden in this game are Sabbath and Metallica. (On a non-Maiden forum it wouldn’t be an upset.) Painkiller and Rainbow Rising each has a puncher’s chance, and I would certainly bet on Rush (Moving Pictures in particular) to make a very deep run.
Yeah, it depends how broad you think the “power metal” label is. I think of bands like Blind Guardian and Iced Earth as “power metal,” and I like them very much. Nightwish sounds different, sort of a faux-symphonic version of metal you might see at a Vegas or Broadway show (even when they are...
