I believe you may be confusing Pyromania with Hysteria.

Is that because you could tell, from my spot-on apt description, that I was referring to "Empire of the Clouds"? :smartarse: I realize I'm in the minority on this here, that's fine. Parts of that track are actually impressive, I thought the SOS bit was clever, but too many other parts make me...

The next person who calls Hell Bent for Leather a lesser Priest album will get an angry emoji from me. Don't push me, I'm not afraid to do it. I submit that it is one of the two or three BEST Priest albums. Every song is a banger, which you cannot say for most Priest records. The production...

"Often," i.e., amongst the more casual fans. A lot of people, myself included, think Sabotage is Sabbath's best album ever.

Best ten Thrash Metal records of each era (besides the "big 4")

Anyone who has been following LooseCannon's big Greatest Metal Album tournament knows my love for Power Trip's "Nightmare Logic" (2017), which is a throwback thrash masterpiece.

Voting for Mastodon. Not bothered if IE advances, I enjoyed that record, though I prefer the live versions of the better songs on Alive In Athens. This one was close. May have been influenced by Jon's recent shenanigans. I have nothing against Soundgarden but Overkill should win just for...

This. Other than maybe Horror Show I think that, with these, the studio albums can pretty much be skipped. Still, I voted for Iced Earth this round, because Motorhead is similar for me: Gimme the No Remorse compilation and No Sleep Til Hammersmith, and I'm good.

What’s the other one? High Voltage? Let There Be Rock? Powerage? Or Back In Black? All of these are not only great, but stone classics, in my view. Heck, I even like Flick of the Switch.

I do rate it pretty highly...it's my favorite Opeth song.

I don't really know what's going on between @LooseCannon and @JudasMyGuide so I won't comment on that specifically. In general, though: I hereby reserve the right to be curmudgeonly and sarcastic about music I don't like! That's part of the fun!!! My favorite comments on this thread are the...

I don't get this. Compared to many of the bands in this game, including early 80s releases by Judas Priest, Ratt is not even remotely cheesy. It's straight-down-the-fairway Sunset Strip sleaze metal of the sort that Guns 'n' Roses (quite effectively) copied a few years later. I'm old enough...

    NOW READING

Glutton for punishment! I haven't yet tackled either one. I have heard Malazan is a little too opaque, and I have heard that WoT has a 3-4 book "slog" in the middle that everyone dislikes, so that is unappealing. I have little desire to start a long series. That said, I realized I'm already...

And now for something completely different: I did about 3-4 minutes of searching on the forums and then got lazy, gave up, and came here to ask: Has there been any Iron Maiden tour in which the song "Iron Maiden" was NOT played?

Too true. My father died this month, and I got a flat tire driving up to be with him in his final days, and then got ANOTHER flat tire driving home. It's been like a bad country song.

Rush vs. Carcass is much closer than I would have thoWHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE?!?!?! Edit - Let me just say this much: there are great albums, and then there are perfect albums, on which every song, every moment, is wonderful. Moving Pictures is a perfect album.

Even though this is likely sarcastic, it is 100% true. Van Halen was obviously more popular, and for good reason: they revolutionized rock music at the time, and they were super cool. I genuinely don't know of any band that was cooler in the early 80s. Eddie Van Halen was featured in Back to...

Did Steve Harris supervise the editing of that video? I feel like I might have a seizure. Cool, heavy song though.

Voting for Ghost because I nominated it, but Lights Out is pretty great too. Also voting for Rush, but I think I need to pick up that Celtic Frost record.
