GREATEST METAL ALBUM CUP - Winner: Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son!

Leave it to @mckindog to bring sanity to the discussion. We've never met, but I think we'd get along. :ok:

GREATEST METAL ALBUM CUP - Winner: Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son!

Fixed. There is literally nothing about the Helloween album that is better than Holy Diver. Not the singing, not the playing (Vivian Campbell was a revelation), not the songwriting, DEFINITELY NOT THE SINGING, nothing.

    Coronavirus

Michigan is a hellhole, my brother lives there. And it is probably the worst place in the world for COVID right now.

    Coronavirus

All kidding aside, I'm pleasantly surprised that the U.S. is committed to making these vaccines widely available. My wife and I are fully vaccinated (two shots each) and our 16-year-old son got his first Pfizer shot last week. Biden made it a priority in the campaign and has continued to make...

3 best sounding albums you own

Is that one of the Steven Wilson (of Porcupine Tree fame) reissues? His remasters/remixes of Jethro Tull's catalog are highly regarded in audiophile circles. (EDIT: See post #6 above in this thread, in which I listed the Wilson version of Aqualung as one of my best-sounding discs!) Wilson...

Very Long John Silver post. :funnypost: oh right...Pacifico (X6) + live rock music = fun night tonight getting COVID vaccinated is quite liberating

Kids, I will turn this car around... Voted for Powerslave and Master because they are awesome. Also, I think Bruce’s solo stuff is significantly overrated by this forum. Accident of Birth and Chemical Wedding are quite good, but not top-tier, genius-level classics.

GREATEST METAL ALBUM CUP - Winner: Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son!

Question wasn’t directed at me but I’ll answer: Blood Brothers is one of Maiden’s more repetitive and boring tracks. Both are great albums, and I nominated them both, but there is a clear right choice: Beast. I mean, come on, people. Especially now that Total Eclipse is officially back on...

Y’know, Helloween would be completely awesome with a less annoying singer.

I know, right? I mean, it’s not like they were musical geniuses who pioneered the very heavy music we all love or anything. While we’re at it, I’m sick of Sabbath, Maiden and Metallica too. Fuck it, let’s have a do-over. Cannibal Corpse all the way.

GREATEST METAL ALBUM CUP - Winner: Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son!

Indeed, tough to choose between two albums I nominated. Stained Class may objectively be the better-regarded album historically, but Mob Rules was one of my gateway drugs to metal when I was a kid, so it gets points for sentimental value. Plus, I go to it more often. iTunes says that the...

GREATEST METAL ALBUM CUP - Winner: Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son!

I have come to accept and expect this forum's disrespect for bands like Led Zeppelin. The disrespect for Black Sabbath, however, is baffling.

It appears that Diesel's taste and mine are.....different.

That riff in the title track of Diary is one of the all-time greats, and illustrates why RR was a musical genius. But Sin After Sin is, top to bottom, the superior album. Mob Rules takes its matchup easily. Other than Sabotage it is my favorite Sabbath record. Alter Bridge wins by default...

    NOW PLAYING

Saw this in the local record shop today, and man, it took me back. This band was from Kansas City, often opening for bigger rock acts when they came to town, got signed to Virgin, and never really made it. But "Last Chance" is an amazing track. On a whim I looked up reviews, and saw this from...

GREATEST METAL ALBUM CUP - Winner: Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son!

Well godammit, one of my nominees is up against an album I'd like to see advance. Gonna vote for Slaughter of the Soul because I nomninated it. Big fan of the Scorps, and I don't typically like death metal, but At the Gates completely kicks ass. As others have noted, it is a groundbreaking...

Terrible excuse. But seriously, hope all goes well. Thinking of you.

Can't say I'm surprised that Bruce is winning this round, but it's an unjust result. AoB is good, Imaginations is great.
