"The Book of Souls" - Official pre-release thread (CONTAINS ALBUM SPOILERS)

Andi Deris has pretty much become the main songwriter in Helloween and writes most songs on his own because he plays guitar, but doesn't record the guitar parts on the album or play live. I never thought of Bruce as being like that, but I guess he must be. Other than the fact it's a double...

    Iced Earth

Been listening to Charrd Walls a lot latey too and it's really awesome. I believe they are more than just a project. I wish it could just be Rippers full time band, but I don't think that will ever happen. Ripper is kind of the American Jorn Lands. I'm assuming ripper hasnt found one band...

    Iced Earth

Christy gets a lot of respect as a heavy metal drummer. It's surprising how he's portrayed as such a goof on Stern and most fans of the show would be shocked to realize he's so well respected in the metal community. Leaving Iced Earth was the best career move he ever made. He can do two things...

    Iced Earth

That's the problem, he doesnt make much money with playing in bands. He's said on Howard Stern more then once that he could barely live with what he made from bands like Death and Iced Earth. That makes me wonder when we'll see more from CWOTD.

Studio Album #16 - Rumours and Speculation (New Info 27.02.15)

Exactly what I was referring to. It doesn't have the same raw sound of AMOLAD, which is more comparable to their earlier work. But I love both directions.

    Iced Earth

I know he's done a couple albums with his new band Charred Walls of The Damned. Tim Owens is the vocalist. I've only heard a few songs so far but they were really awesome. The drumming sounds fuckin great.

    Helloween & Gamma Ray

It's been awhile since I heard King of 7 Eyes, but I can say that just based on the fact that Andi Deris wrote both Nabatea and King of 7 Eyes it really doesn't count. And I've never heard the solo you named.

    Iced Earth

They need to get back Richard Christy. Howard Stern will likely retire soon so he'll need work anyways :p

    Helloween & Gamma Ray

I disagree with everything you wrote. Helloween never rips off songs, that's BS. Now Gamma Ray, that's another story. Gamma Rays shamelessly rips of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, just to name a couple. The same cannot be said about Helloween. They're the ones who get ripped off.

Studio Album #16 - Rumours and Speculation (New Info 27.02.15)

Does anyone else notice the difference in sound BNW and DoD have compared https://www.goodreads.com/author/list/49111.Samuel_R_Delanywith the last two albums. I'm not talking about the individual style of the songs, I mean the production sound. BNW and DoD have a kind of polished sound to them...

    Helloween & Gamma Ray

Dragonforce has some cool music for sure, but I think they're a one trick pony. Although it is cool that a power metal band like them has become so popular in North America. That popularity belongs to Helloween. The two Keepers albums made Helloween huge, they were on the brink of something...

Studio Album #16 - Rumours and Speculation (New Info 27.02.15)

Many people say AcesHigh to be very power metal-ish. It's not just me. And Iron Maiden is a huge influence to most power metal bands. When Helloween released the Keepers albums people called it Iron Maiden on speed, or something to that effect :p no doubt they were an influence. Edguy is a...

    Helloween & Gamma Ray

Sail on by Masterplan was a great song....just saying, its Halloween related And Night Prowler, I actually like Chameleon. I also loves Unarmed. I generally like whenever Halloween has gone and some something different out of the norm. Although tbh, Unarmed was really the doing of the record...

    Symphony X

i remember a lot of people putting Symphony X up there with Dream Theater. That's why i bought V. I liked it but never bought anything else. I heard a bit of the Paradise Lost album and was surprised because they sounded like a straightforward power metal band, very different from V. is this...

Studio Album #16 - Rumours and Speculation (New Info 27.02.15)

The Rainmaker, The Mercenary, Different Worlds, The Alchemist. Those are 4 really awesome short "rockers" from recent albums, and there's more. It's not like they don't exist, there's just less and I'm surprised people have such an issue with that. and i guess Maiden kinda has done power metal...

Studio Album #16 - Rumours and Speculation (New Info 27.02.15)

I hope there's a power metal element to their next cd. Wouldn't that be cool? I don't mean dragons and fantasy and stuff, not all power metal is like that. But image Maiden writing something like Helloween's Before The War or Dreambound, which are darker power metal songs and songs I can imagine...

    Helloween & Gamma Ray

As long as they never release anything sounding like Do You Know What You're Fighting For? I'll be reasonably happy. I thought this was going to be really hard rock-ish like that but then it turned into speed metal, or power metal if you will.

    Helloween & Gamma Ray

Its funny how Battles Won is so obviously a Weiki song. Not a bad thing. I've always said that if Helloween wants to make an album that is like the original Keepers then they need to let Weiki and Marcus write all the music. And maybe Sascha, because songs like Paint A New World and Dreambound...

    Music Like New Iron Maiden

I'm really interested in this too. I really love what Maiden have evolved into, including the Blaze stuff. I see XFactor and VXI as a precursor to their style with the reunion era. They still sound like Maiden, especially FF and AMOLAD, but more 'progressive', you know? I don't know about bands...

    Stratovarius

You know, I was listening to the new album Nemesis. And it made me realize how stereotypically power metal this band is. I know the 2 Keepers albums by Helloween are considered the most influential and the original PM albums, but it's also incredibly different from most other power metal, other...
