    Virtual XI appreciation

Well that shines a light on the issue. Its very much a Steve Harris album. I wonder why that is, why there was so little input from the other members. I'm trying to figure out what it is that makes VXI sound so unique. Is it the use of keyboards? Odd song structures. For a long time I actually...

    What's the matter with FOTD?

It's simply a collection of weak songs. I've always kinda thought of it as their Judas Priest album. And I love JP. But for some reason I find there to be something very Judas Priest-ey about FoTD.

    Virtual XI appreciation

Virtual XI is like the bridge between old and new Maiden. BNW took the long, epic and moody style of the Blaze-era and mixed it with the rockier, more traditional metal of classic Maiden. I love Virtual XI. It was one of my first and favorite IM albums. Educated Fool is a powerful song...

Why A Matter Of Life and Death is Iron Maidens best album

It's got a great sound. To my ears, it was the starting of Maiden's albums having the classic 80s maiden sound to them. I mean the overall production sound. BNW and DoD, as well as VXI, have a more polished sound. And I love those 3 albums, I really do (VXI was amazing IMO).

    Your Maiden blasphemy

It could have been. Depends how much input Blaze would have. Could have had similarities.

    Your Maiden blasphemy

The BLAZE album Silicon Messiah should have been Maidens follow-up to Virtual XI. Just image, that would be awesome! And image if Maiden had recorded Silicon Messiah with Adrian Smith in the mix. Amazing!

    Dream Theater

Blasphemy. Sure FII has shorter songs like Awake does, but its very different and quite inferior. Awake is raw, heavy, ballsy, but also experimental in a way they aren't anymore. They've always been progressive, but on Awake they weren't so proggy. Awake doesn't have the overly long instrumental...

    Helloween & Gamma Ray

....so should Andi Deris, even though I'm a big fan. So what does everyone think of My God Given Right? I like it. Its different then they're last few. Its got more if an 80s rock mixed with pop style to it. Still some great power metal on it though, you can always expect that from Halloween...

Do you mean Iced Earth or Charred Walls is building a studio?

    Helloween & Gamma Ray

I like newer Gamma Ray, but I notice more and more how often they...... "pay homage" to other classic metal bands. Sometimes they outright rip-off Maiden and Priest. Disappointing because are they not original and enough of a classic band to just continue coming up with their own stuff?...

It's sickening how underrated Lord of Light is

Five years later: The Final Frontier revisited

BNW is the best Maiden album. Ever. TFF is very good, but behind AMoLAD It goes: 1- BNW 2- AMoLAD 3- TFF Yea, I'm a huge fan of their newer stuff. It's just better. They're better musicians since the reunion, they write better songs. They can write short songs still that are great, but even...

Five years later: The Final Frontier revisited

Is there a space/sci-fi theme to TFF? Other then the obvious (the cover art), I sense a space theme in a lot of the songs. Does it just seem that way or is that an actual lyrical theme on the album? Has the band talked about it?

Songs not meant to be played live

Which I find odd, as I've said, because I don't think they are progressive in the same way DT is. But if that's how they see themselves....

As far as albums with repetitive choruses, why does Seventh Son get a break?

I can't get over the fact they would make a concept album around such a shitty novel like Orson Scott Card's Seventh Son. And I think people are overreacting to the repeated chorus thing. It's never bothered me and I never really thought about it until I started coming to places like this forum...

matter of life & death live dvd?

I wish they would play all new albums entirely on new tours. AMoLAD is especially a good album to do it with. As a whole it's a very cohesive piece.

Songs not meant to be played live

The Maiden guys seem to be big DT fans. I've heard multiple times Bruce compliment them. And I also remember a time recently when Steve compared one of the newer albums to being progressive in a DT-like way, which I found odd because, while IM is certainly progressive these days, I've always...

    Does Maiden care anymore?

I like the approach they took with Bruce on the new single, but I hope they don't do it on the whole album. I'm talking about the chorus. What's the word for the way it's done with only one vocal track? I hope they're not all like that.

Songs not meant to be played live

It's crazy how a band like DT has incredibly complicated songs and plays them all live while most others wouldn't even consider it.

    Does Maiden care anymore?

I love new Maiden and think their last four albums are the best they've ever done. I also really like the sound they had with AMOLAD and TFF, the raw production sound. It has the same feel as their 'classic' earlier stuff like NoTB or Power slave etc. That being said, I do hope someday the make...
