I love The Red and the Black, it's a top tenner for me. But, Steve's little riffs and the beginning & end , when he runs down the neck really fast, sound like a jumbled mess to me. I can't 'hear' what he's supposed to be playing there.

Yea, I have a bit of trouble reasoning that out as well. They sometimes play a riff for eight, or even twelve bars, when they could go four bars and not lose any punch.

There's never been any comparison, as far as I'm concerned. There's a reason Maiden sells out stadiums nearly 40 years down the road, and KISS is constantly looking for that one last money making angle. Maiden is legit, while KISS is the longest running novelty act in the history of music...

AMEN! Adrian's Revelations solo is my all time favorite. It's not unusual for me to skip back and listen to that solo twice whenever I listen to Revelations. I was truly upset when Yanny took it over.

The 1998 remasters. It was by accident, actually. My IPod was swiped, and I was out Christmas shopping, and there was a Powerslave cd in the $5 bin, so I grabbed it. I must have listened to that cd non-stop, for a week straight.

I listened to them every day for 11 months straight. That was because I'd started purchasing the remasters. I was hearing crisp, clear things I'd never noticed before. Especially with the guitar solos. It was like they were brand new.
