What makes The Number of The Beast a classic?

Seriously though. The songs, vocals and production are all amazing. Hallowed, TNOTB, RTTH etc are all classic Maiden songs.

    Virtual XI appreciation

Really like this album... Quite a few great songs on it. The Clansman and Futeral are 10/10 songs with nearly all of the rest being 8 or 9 rated songs. I even like TAATG. 9/10 album overall.

The Book of Souls: General album discussion

So it's starting to sink in now... Still loving nearly all the songs. Two of the songs I didn't get into immediately (TRATB and TBOS) are really growing on me and I am now starting to enjoy them immensely. TGU is another one that has grown on me. Not sure what its about though. This album is...

The Book of Souls: General album discussion

OK. Where do I begin with this. Just finished listening to the whole album from start to finish for the first time. First of all I have to say it is their best album (imo) since SSOSSS. There is very little or no filler on the album. Bruce really shines on this album with his two singular...

    Empire Of The Clouds

OH YES!!!!!! What a way to close the album. I really have no words to describe how amazing this song is!!! Vocals-Perfect Lyrics-Perfect Drums-Perfect Guitars-Perfect..... They were right when they said it was a masterpiece. Instant 10/10 song... No need to even think about it.

    The Man Of Sorrows

Great intro from Davey. Love Bruce's vocals. He gets better and better. The main verse riff is very basic though and then it sort of picks up in the chorus a bit. This is one of the lightest songs on the album. The rhythm guitars sound a bit thin and then they almost completely fade out in...

    Tears Of A Clown

Woah.,,, Completely different song. Where did that come from? This song is immense! Love the vocal melodies and the solo at around the the 3 minute mark is spectacular. The story of the situation with Robin Williams is very poignantly told by Steve. Probably the best vocal performance on the...

    Shadows Of The Valley

Another Gers/Harris composition... I'm getting a bit of an X-Factor vibe from SOTV. This is probably my least favourite so far but I'm sure in time it will grow on me.

    Death Or Glory

A fresh approach with Adrian and Bruce writing together. Really like this song at first listen. Apparently it's about WW1 and the Red Baron.. Goes past so quickly after listening to some of the epics. Brilliant sing a long chorus. This album is full of great songs.:-)

The Book Of Souls (song not album)

Typical Gers intro. Janick is a great songwriter imo so have been really looking forward to this one. Have to say so far Bruce is sounding amazing on this album. This song has that eastern sound found on the Nomad. Pretty strong song and quite a variation in the rhythm guitar riffs. The lyrics...

    When The River Runs Deep

I was listening to the start of this and it suddenly came to me that it sounded like the Prophecy intro. However that's a good thing. Pretty decent song that I think will grow on me in time. There is so much to absorb with this album and I'm only up to track 5.

    The Red And The Black

This is classic Steve Harris.... I'm getting a bit of a SOTC mixed with ROTAM vibe with this one.... Have to listen to this one a number of times before I will be able to appreciate it properly. At around 5 minutes it gets a bit soft for some reason. The bass seems to get lost in the mix and...

    The Great Unknown

Really digging this one.... Great main riff and the verse vocal lines are cool-) The solo at around 4:30 is awesome. I think it's Adrian. Not going to give it a rating yet as have to let it sink in for a few days...
