    Queen

I absolutely love Queen. The Beatles, Queen, Iron Maiden, Ronnie James Dio. There was quite a bit of solid rock n' roll before I was even born. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of great bands today too. Unfortunately they're all breaking up lately too (As I Lay Dying, Chimaira). I get a...

    As I Lay Dying

I tried to read the William Faulkner novel of the same name. The thick, southern vernacular was a bit too much for me and was giving me a headache. I did see the James Franco directed movie that came out about a year or two ago. He did accurately depict that vernacular, I'll give him that. It...

    As I Lay Dying

I can't say I get those feelings haha, but the newest album does have many of the "hopeless", "chained down" type of themes to it that certainly makes it all clear in hindsight. I'm very torn on if I should support Tim for the issues he had and still suffers from, but I can't really condone the...

    As I Lay Dying

Do we have any As I Lay Dying fans on here? It breaks my heart that Tim Lambesis' stupidity led to an early demise from what is probably the best Metalcore band of all time, in my opinion. All of their albums are solid, but Frail Words Collapse was my first experience, so it cannot be anything...

    DIO

I've heard some good songs from Ozzy Black Sabbath, as well as his solo career. I just like the Bruce Dickinson and Ronnie James Dio's of the world more than the Ozzy Osbournes. Paranoid seems to have the best songs from Sabbath that I like. I'm sure that's one of their classic albums.

    DIO

I know this may be blasphemy to some metal fans on here, but I don't really care for Ozzy overall. From the few Dio-era Sabbath songs I've heard, he almost sounds better IMO than Ozzy ever did. I just can't get past ozzy's voice. He has a few good songs.

    DIO

From what I've read about the band Dio, not his entire body of work as a musician, was that Dio had many medieval themed lyrics. The imagery of Holy Diver has a lucifer-esque demon laying waste to a dark realm. Maybe fantasy might be a better term.

    DIO

So I've also discovered the amazing Ronnie James Dio since following Iron Maiden these past few months (thanks pandora for putting Dio on). I have heard just a handful of songs but I absolutely love him as a vocalist. He is very similar to Bruce Dickinson IMO. They both seem to have the best...

    New posters! Who are you?

I've briefly been to Akron, OH (I won't judge the whole state on that one town) and Indianapolis 15 years ago. Other than that, I've never been in any parts of the midwest. I wish I could get around to seeing all fifty states for at least 24 hours before I die. Welcome MTD. Clever username and...

What is your least favorite Maiden song?

So I'm now diving into Piece of Mind and I get to quest for fire. I think "uh oh, the OP on this thread hates this song, here we go". I don't mind it. It's not amazing, but far from anywhere near the bottom of the maiden cannon, even through the first four albums I've heard. Hell, I was humming...

    New posters! Who are you?

I just watched flight 666 today. Nicko and Bruce are the jokesters of the band, Janick to a lesser extent. It was great just to get to know the members outside of their live performances.

    Killers: Album Discussion

Killers is a good song but it's disserviced by being smack dab in the middle of seven other so-so, at best, songs. I think sometimes a song that would be stronger elsewhere in an album, or even on another album, is brought down by the momentum at that time in the album.

    Hallowed Be Thy Name

Epic end to en epic album. I love the lyrics and you can get lost in a fantasy land listening to this masterpiece. This is everything that a metal song should be. 10/10

    Total Eclipse

The most disappointing song of what is otherwise an excellent album. This song is still okay. It's just forgettable compared to the rest of the album. This is the "filler" song. It's okay though. It's followed by sheer epicness. 7/10

    Gangland

Wow I don't understand the hate for this song. There are far worse songs on the Di'Anno albums that preceded NOTB. This is a weaker song on this album, sure, but it's far from bad. The gangland chorus does get repetitive. 8/10

    Run to the Hills

If I had to say what is the "worst" part of this album, it would be the next three songs. I say that lightly though, as there is really nothing wrong with this album. This song is catchy, it is overplayed, and this is another highly known song. It's overplayed nature probably detracts a point...

    The Number of the Beast

The best known iron maiden song that even non-metal fans know and refer to. That mainstream success doesn't mean this isn't a good song though. Another great guitar solo and this controversial devil song caused quite the stir. It's a metal classic. That sound be good enough for a 10/10.

    22, Acacia Avenue

Just look at my screen name and you'll know how I feel about this song. Our friend Charlotte the Harlot is back and she's built quite the clientele. She's getting referrals! I also love the double entendre of the line "You will find it's warm inside the red light's burning bright tonight"...

    The Prisoner

Here's a first for IM. A recording from a TV show to start the song. It sets the mood. Some say this is a filler song and I suppose it is for this particular album, but it is still a good song. Bruce's vocals have not disappointed yet so far on this album. 9/10

    Children of the Damned

Wow my blood is pumping. Let's slow it down. It's okay though, this one is epic. More great vocals from Bruce. I absolutely love that howl of his. The vocals alone give this one a 10.
